Wisconsin Task Force 1 Rescue Team Lead, Doug Vrechek, talks about his experience helping in recovery efforts in North Carolina after Hurricane Helene and how these efforts will transfer to assisting in the Texas floods.

1. The visitation is now underway for fallen Milwaukee police officer Kendall Corder. The 32-year-old lost his life in the line of duty last month. He and his partner were ambushed in an alley on the city’s north side, while responding to a call about a person with a weapon. His partner, Officer Christopher McCray, was also hurt, but survived. The visitation for Officer Corder is happening at Elmbrook Church in Brookfield. It goes for another two hours roughly. The funeral starts at 2:30. Thousands are expected to attend, including law enforcement officers from across the country. Police honors will follow. After the funeral, a procession will take Officer Corder to his final resting place. He’ll be buried during a private ceremony at Wisconsin Memorial Park.

2. Tariffs on Canadian imports is being raised to 35%, effective Aug. 1, according to the Trump administration. In 2024, 43 pounds of fentanyl was seized at the northern border, 58 pounds have already been seized this year according to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Canada shipped $413 billion worth of goods to the US last year. The primary imports from Canada to the United States include crude oil, vehicles (cars and parts), and machinery (turbines, engines, etc.). Additionally, Canada is a major supplier of various food products to the US, such as vegetable oils, grains, fish, cocoa, meats, and livestock.

3. Harley-Davidson’s Homecoming festivities rev up tonight! Hank Williams Jr. gets the party started with a concert in Veterans Park along Milwaukee’s lakefront. The Harley-Davidson homecoming is now an ANNUAL celebration, four days celebrating music, motorcycle culture, and Harley’s hometown. The company was founded here in Brew City back in 19-03. The first motorcycle was built in a shed in the Davidson family backyard. You can see "bike number one" at the Harley Davidson Museum. Tomorrow night’s concert is country star Chris Stapleton.

1. The search in Idaho for a Pewaukee native accused of killing his three kids is over. Authorities have stopped looking for Travis Decker in Idaho’s Sawtooth National Forest after identifying and interviewing a man who was believed to be the fugitive. Turns out it was just a "look-a-like" hiker. Members of the U.S. Marshals Service found the man yesterday and have since cleared him. Multiple campers spotted the guy over the Fourth of July weekend and thought it was Decker. He did match Decker’s general appearance and the campers said he was acting odd. Law enforcement officers are now demobilizing the multi-agency search operation that had been active since Monday. Bottom line: The Pewaukee native is still on the run... if he's even alive at this point. Decker is accused of suffocating his three young daughters in Washington State.

2. Tuition could be going up at Universities of Wisconsin institutions. The UW Board of Regents is meeting today to consider a proposal drafted by System President Jay Rothman to increase tuition for resident undergraduates by up to 5 percent for the 2025-26 academic year. Rothman’s proposal would increase tuition by 4 percent across the board. The Universities in the system would have the choice of raising tuition an additional 1 percent. Tuition has increased 7.7% during a 10-year period from 2015 to 2025 at UW institutions. Well below neighboring states, which ranged from increases of 21.7% to 28.8% during that same period.

1. The procession route now finalized for fallen Milwaukee police officer Kendall Corder. The Milwaukee Police Department just announced the procession will begin between four and five PM tomorrow at Elmbrook Church in Brookfield. That's where Officer Corder's funeral services are taking place tomorrow. Public visitation is from 11 to 2. The funeral starts at 2:30. After, expect police honors, then the procession from the church to the cemetery. The procession will exit the church parking lot, then take Barker to Capitol. Officer Corder is being buried at Wisconsin Memorial Park on Capitol. The burial will be private.

2. The most valuable public company in the world is Nvidia! The chipmaker became the first public company to eclipse the $4 trillion dollar mark during trading on Wednesday overtaking other tech giants like Apple and Microsoft. A meteoric rise considering the company was valued at just over $1 trillion dollars in 2023. NVIDIA is best known for its Graphic Processing Units these are used in a wide range of applications from gaming and professional visualization to artificial intelligence and data centers. NVIDIA provides chips and systems for data centers chips and platforms for autonomous vehicles and more. Just last week, Microsoft announced a reduction in its global workforce by 9,000. Investors believe artificial intelligence is responsible for the Microsoft job cuts.

3. A major recall from Ford. A recall of thousands of vehicles that could stall and cause a crash. Separate letters will be sent to owners once the remedy is available.
