1. President Trump is moving markets today by threatening more tariffs. U.S. futures and global markets tumbled after the president threatened the European Union and Apple with tariffs. He says he wants "a straight 50-percent tariff" on the EU starting June 1st, because trade talks are stuck. President Trump is also threatening a 25% import tax on Apple, unless iPhones are made in the U.S. This is just a threat at this point, but if it goes through, it could have a major impact on the U.S. economy. Last year we imported more than $600 billion dollars' worth of goods from the EU.

2. For the 6th consecutive year, The Field of Flags is back outside the War Memorial at Veteran's Park in downtown Milwaukee. A moving tribute honoring every Wisconsin service member killed since the Civil War. Hundreds of volunteers worked this week to plant the flags; they wrapped things up this morning. The dedication ceremony concluded moments ago.

3. Billy Joel announces he’s been diagnosed with the brain disorder Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus, while canceling his upcoming concerts, including an appearance he was supposed to make here in Milwaukee.

Wisconsin's Midday News talks about each year, on the Sunday before Memorial Day, 33 screaming Indy race cars line up in rows of three before blasting across the Yard of Bricks at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Indy 500. This year, before the professional drivers begin the chase for the legendary Borg-Warner Trophy, a more unusual kind of race will occur at the famed oval circuit. Tomorrow, six of Oscar Mayer's iconic Wienermobiles will hold a race of their own, each representing a different regional hot dog from the United States.

1. A visitation service is now set for the UW-Platteville student who was shot and killed inside a dorm this week. They're calling it "A Visitation of Remembrance" for Kelsie Martin. The service is next Friday in Beloit, Martin's hometown. Meanwhile, we're also learning more about the 22-year-old. Martin was a 20-21 graduate of FJ Turner High School. She had just graduated Summa Cum Laude from Platteville over the weekend. Martin was very smart, a member of the National Honor Society in Psychology, and the National Society of Leaders. She was also the Assistant Resident Director and President of the Psychology Club. Her plan was to pursue a Masters of Social Work at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in the Fall. Martin was also described as compassionate, caring, and someone who enjoyed helping others. Martin's obituary "She was the sweetest... and a true ray of sunshine who will be deeply missed. She was everything good in this world." Police say Martin was shot and killed in Wilgus Hall on Monday. She died after being rushed to UW Hospital in Madison. Investigators say the other student involved, 22-year-old Hallie Helms of Baraboo, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No word yet on a possible motive.

2. A small private plane crashed in a San Diego military neighborhood early this morning, killing at least two people on the plane and engulfing homes and vehicles in flames. About 100 people were displaced from their homes, officials said, and about 10 buildings were damaged. Officials said eight people were treated for injuries, and one of them was taken to the hospital.

Ther men are seen on surveillance cameras running from the loading dock and climbing a fence that laughably had only partial razor wire around it, and they weren't reported missing until 6 to 8 hours later. This story has "inside job" written all over it, with at least one employee charged and at least two other employees suspended. Brad discusses the profile of high-risk inmates and why understaffing, low pay and corrupt prison guards are a recipe for disaster.

1. A rise in crimes targeting postal workers across the country. Thieves are stealing postal keys and making off with your mail, including credit cards and personal information. This isn't something new - the problem is just getting worse. You might remember back in 2023, prosecutors in Milwaukee County said there was entire crime ring sticking up mail carriers for those arrow keys.

2. President Trump's Big, Beautiful Bill is heading to the Senate after an early morning debate led to the Bill passing through the House by one vote. The House bill does not cut Social Security benefits or Medicare benefits for seniors. The notable changes to Medicaid include - for the first time ever - work requirements. Certain recipients ages 19 to 64 who gained coverage through the Affordable Care Act’s expansion of Medicaid would have to work, volunteer or be enrolled in school or a job training program at least 80 hours a month or qualify for an exemption to continue their coverage. In the end, 2 Republicans voted against the bill, along with all democrats. More challenges are expected once it reaches the Senate.

3. The Treasury Department is going to stop making pennies, because it costs way more than pennies to make them. In February, President Trump directed the Treasury to stop minting new ones, calling it wasteful. So, the agency placed its final order for penny blanks this month…those are the little discs used to make the one cent coins. So, once they run out, pennies will be no more.
