1. A visitation service is now set for the UW-Platteville student who was shot and killed inside a dorm this week. They're calling it "A Visitation of Remembrance" for Kelsie Martin.

The service is next Friday in Beloit, Martin's hometown. Meanwhile, we're also learning more about the 22-year-old. Martin was a 20-21 graduate of FJ Turner High School. She had just graduated Summa Cum Laude from Platteville over the weekend. Martin was very smart, a member of the National Honor Society in Psychology, and the National Society of Leaders. She was also the Assistant Resident Director and President of the Psychology Club. Her plan was to pursue a Masters of Social Work at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in the Fall. Martin was also described as compassionate, caring, and someone who enjoyed helping others. Martin's obituary "She was the sweetest and a true ray of sunshine who will be deeply missed. She was everything good in this world." Police say Martin was shot and killed in Wilgus Hall on Monday. She died after being rushed to UW Hospital in Madison. Investigators say the other student involved, 22-year-old Hallie Helms of Baraboo, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No word yet on a possible motive.

2. Millions of Americans are getting a jump on the Memorial Day weekend today, loading into their cars or boarding jetliners bound for holiday destinations. The national average price of a gallon of gasoline is projected to be $3.08 on Memorial Day, according to GasBuddy. Last year, the average cost of a gallon of unleaded was $3.58. The average cost of a gallon in Wisconsin is $3.03.

3. Starting today, pharmacies can no longer make cheaper, generic versions of weight loss drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy. They were allowed to before today, due to short supply. On the same day, this federal deadline arrives, a Danish drugmaker just announced it will temporarily reduce the price of the weight-loss drug Wegovy for new customers, because it's trying to limit sales of the compounded versions. While pharmacies can no longer make those cheaper versions, there's obviously still a supply out there to be bought.

ABC News Technology Reporter Mike Dobuski talks about CarPlay having been a big success for Apple for the last several years, and now the company is trying to expand the reach of that technology with CarPlay Ultra. Instead of just projecting an iPhone's operating system onto your car's infotainment screen, CarPlay Ultra essentially hands most of a car's functionality over to Apple software. But not all carmakers are thrilled about ceding that digital territory. Mike has been driving a whole bunch of different vehicles over the past week, though none with CarPlay Ultra yet, and reports from the front lines of the battle over in-car infotainment. Plus, Google kicks off its annual developer conference, called today, what can consumers expect?

Wisconsin's Midday News talks about how Netflix is exploring the controversies and scandals that have clouded the legacy of Brett Favre. ‘Fall of Favre’ is a three-part documentary series streaming tonight.

1. Triage counseling is available at UW-Platteville today, after a deadly shooting on campus on Monday. Two UW-Platteville students are dead, final exams are cancelled, and the university community is in shock. Both students were just 22. The University has identified them as Kelsie Martin of Beloit and Hallie Helms of Baraboo. The shooting happened at a residence hall. Police say it wasn't random, but “targeted”. Helms just graduated over the weekend, with a degree in elementary education. The shooting resulted in a "shelter-in-place" order for about an hour on Monday. In addition to the counseling that started today, the university also has an emotional support line available for students. A university rep says there’s no press conference planned on campus today, but we should expect a joint statement from University Police and the Department of Criminal Investigation later today.

2. The Future of Buc-ees in Oak Creek will be discussed tonight at a Public Hearing. The Oak Creek Common Council held an initial public hearing March 18th to discuss the proposed massive travel plaza and hear feedback from residents before moving forward with the project. Residents have expressed concerns about traffic, environmental impact, noise, property values, and the overall effect on their quality of life. Key points of discussion tonight are the conditional use permit which is required for the operation of a "fueling plaza" at the proposed location, the proposal requires rezoning of the land and a change to the city's comprehensive plan to accommodate the large-scale development. We're talking about a 73,370-square-foot travel center with 120 gas pumps and EV charging and those community concerns.

1. New guidance just out today on COVID vaccines from the Food and Drug Administration. The FDA now says COVID booster shots will need to go through a stricter approvals process before certain Americans can get them. The new guidance would require vaccine makers to subject their shots to randomized, placebo-controlled trials, which pharmaceutical companies say will add time and cost to vaccine distribution. FDA officials say the move is in line with how European governments handle vaccine approvals, and that between one hundred and two hundred million people will still be eligible for the shot. For high-risk people, like kids under six and adults over 65, the FDA says it will accept the old standard for approval.

2. A study released by the MKE 2024 Host Committee and Visit Milwaukee shows the economic impact of the RNC. Just over $320 million dollars. That includes $162million dollars in direct spending on things like the venue, security, transportation and staffing and $54 million in off-site spending on things like hotels, restaurants and retail. Downtown Milwaukee hotel occupancy reached 86% during the convention week. And remember, the Milwaukee Police Department received a $75 million federal grant for security, including the purchase of equipment that the city will retain. Restaurants and bars in Milwaukee County, outside of the secure zone, saw a 2.9% drop in sales. Museums and historical sites in the county saw a 38% drop in sales.

3. Who's stealing the signs? The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office got a call today from a Town Chairman about a road sign that had been stolen overnight. Someone took a chainsaw and actually brought the whole post down. Turns out this wasn't an isolated incident. Numerous towns in Chippewa County have had signs stolen over the last few months. Stealing road signs is against state law. If caught and convicted, the thief could spend time in jail or be fined. This is also dangerous because think about it if all of a sudden, a stop sign is gone, you could have a serious car crash.Wisconsin communities are now being urged to report missing or stolen road signs.
