1. A powerful storm rocked the upper Midwest Thursday, bringing serious damage from Wisconsin to Illinois as tornadoes sprang up overnight. The Mayville mayor has declared a state of emergency. In Chicago, fans attending Beyonce's Cowboy Carter concert at Soldier Field were evacuated, running for cover as storms pounded the area with water rushing downstairs.

2. It's being called a medical breakthrough: gene therapy, that allows doctors to correct errors in a DNA sequence, which could reverse life-threatening diseases and medical conditions. In Philadelphia, doctors successfully performed the therapy on a child who was diagnosed with a rare disorder called "CP-S1 Deficiency." Estimates show there are more than 7000 rare diseases affecting 30 million people in the US - a similar approach with technology like this could treat hundreds to thousands of genetic diseases like sickle cell, cystic fibrosis, Huntington's disease and muscular dystrophy.

3. The Chromebook Challenge. No one knows where, or how, it originated, but the latest social media trend is sparking concern among fire officials and school administrators across the country. Some students in Menomonee Falls have already damaged their devices. Other districts in Wisconsin are alerting parents to the challenge too.

Local Celebrity Chef Adam Pawlak talks about his upcoming “Cooking for Kids” Event. With the goal of inspiring kids to hit the kitchen and raise money for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin at the same time, through his nonprofit organization, which launches at an event May 20th.

1. Survey teams are assessing damage across Wisconsin after last night's quick, but intense storms. Mother Nature brought heavy rain, hail, and tornadoes. That's ABC's Alex Perez. At least one tornado has already been confirmed-- that one in Mayville. We're likely to see more confirmed as the National Weather Service teams complete their work surveying the damage.

2. The star witness of the prosecution in the trial against Sean "Diddy" Combs' is back on the witness stand today. Combs's ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura has already explained to jurors the toxicity of their relationship. Combs' defense team is arguing against her testimony saying Ventura was a willing participant in Combs' “freak offs”. The judge is urging lawyers to wrap up with Ventura before the weekend, as she’s due to give birth soon.

3. The Justice Department is considering dropping the criminal charges against Boeing for two deadly 737 Max 8 crashes. Attorneys for the families say Boeing’s CEO and lawyers have signed a confession of guilt, and they can’t walk away from that. Boeing went on record saying it has settled more than 90% of claims from the two 737 MAX 8 accidents and paid billions of dollars in compensation to the families through lawsuits.

We wrap up with another Everyday Hero and how cookies can make you lose weight, according to Italian researchers, who have developed a cookie that SEEMS to act like Ozempic.

ABC News Investigative Reporter Peter Charalambous talks about how for more than two days, jurors in the Sean Diddy Combs trial heard descriptions of days-long, drug-fueled, sexual "freak outs." On Wednesday, they saw the pictures. Taking the stand for a second day, Cassie Ventura described how Combs forced her to record encounters with multiple male escorts and using the “humiliating, derogatory” footage as “leverage.”  The jury was shown 7 still images from the videos. Ventura also testified that, after more than a decade together, she and Combs split in 2018. Five years later she sued him, alleging “a cycle of abuse, violence, and sex trafficking” revealing for the first time the suit was settled for $20 million dollars.

1. FBI field offices ordered to shift agents to the immigration crackdown. FBI field offices across the country have been ordered to assign significantly more agents to immigration enforcement. That's a dramatic shift in federal law enforcement priorities. This could tear away resources from things like counterterrorism counterintelligence and fraud investigations. The orders were given in a series of memos and meetings in FBI offices this week. I called the Milwaukee FBI Field Office today to see if they’ve been ordered to shift agents to the immigration crackdown. The rep is looking into it now.

2. The 2028 Olympic Games, which will be held on Los Angeles, could get a little more “American”. The 2028 games will be the first to include flag football and those games could include NFL players. The NFL owners are set to discuss a resolution at next week's league meeting that would allow NFL players to participate in the Olympics. The meeting is next week so we will see how it plays out, either way though, flag football is coming to a television screen near you by way of the Olympic Games.
