  • Creating a Living Legacy with Laura Volk
Laura Volk is has been practicing as a landscape designer for over last 20 years. She has degrees in horticulture and landscape architecture, has worked for the park service, design build firms and started her own design business in 2005. Laura is a heart centered entrepreneur all about helping you to have a living legacy, and to create an inspired landscape. Laura is launching her next online program, Create Your Inspired Landscape this February. You can find out more at theinspiredlandscape.com. We talked a lot about how to tap into the expression of your heart and soul, for Laura it has been around landscape and creating spaces that foster connection, love and moving through grief in a supported way. Laura shared openly about her father passing and creating a living legacy on the hospital grounds where he was treated before he transitioned. She spoke about how this project helped her to transform her own grief. Some of the key aspects of this conversation:
    • Know that loved ones passing doesn't mean they are gone, they just transition into a new form. Love your way through grief and find ways to create and be inspired by the loved one who has died.
    • Listening to Abraham Hicks (this is a stream of consciousness that Esther Hicks channels) is an excellent way to connect to your inner self and a higher stream of consciousness, with the focus being on tuning into your inner being and intuition.
    • Habits Laura does to heighten her own intuition: meditation for 15 - 20 minutes/daily, find ways to be happy (create a playlist, dance in the kitchen, focus on what you appreciate), take regular walks in the woods and nature
    • Laura's 'Get Happy' playlist includes:
      • Live life -Zayde Wolf
      • Born for this - Andy Grammar
      • Beautiful Life - Nick Frandiani
      • Looking Up - Safety suit
      • Good Rain - Trevor Hall
      • Phoenix - Olivia Holt
      • My calling - AJR
      • I am light - Indie Arie

  • The Science Behind Your Intuition with Dr. Rollin McCraty
Rollin McCraty, Ph.D. is Director of Research of the HeartMath Research Center at the HeartMath Institute. As a psycho-physiologist, Dr. McCraty's research interests include the physiology of emotion, heart-brain communication and the global interconnectivity between people and the earth's energetic systems. Findings from this research have been applied to the development of tools and technology to optimize individual and organizational health, performance, and quality of life. Dr. McCraty has acted as Principal Investigator in numerous studies examining the effects of emotions on heart–brain interactions and on autonomic, cardiovascular, hormonal, and immune system function, and outcome studies to determine the benefits of positive emotion-focused interventions and heart rhythm coherence feedback in diverse organizational, educational and various clinical populations. He has been featured in a number of documentary films such as I am, The Truth, The Joy of Sox move, The Power of the Heart, Solar Revolution, and The Living Matrix among many others. To learn more about HeartMath, go to HeartMath.com. Dr. McCraty had so much wisdom to share about the science behind heart intelligence and on today's topic of intuition. While this is a longer episode, I can't recommend this interview enough. You will get a better understanding of how our heart is really what leads our brain and then body's response. Here are some of the most powerful takeaways: Things We Learned From This Episode
    • The biggest stress point in the world is because of a lack of alignment of our heart (where intuition is found) and our mind.
    • There are three kinds of intuition:
      1. Implicit Knowledge - what most of us are aware of, as this is our unconscious memory, otherwise known as 'dual process theory'. A secondary kind is known as Insight. This is what we'd refer to as our 'ah-ha' moments, meaning our unconscious is still at work just in a slower manner than with implicit knowledge.
      2. Energetic Sensitivity - This is our nervous system's ability to detect and respond to signals in the environment. The commonly used phrase, 'the tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife', refers to this idea of being able to sense other's energy. We know scientifically that our heart radiates in a magnetic field that is at least 3 feet past our body. Empaths and those with deep empathy and sensitivity to energy can feel what others are feeling.
      3. Non-local Intuition - this is the kind of intuition we can't explain as it's across time or space.
    • Any human being with a heart can learn to better tune in and connect with their heart intelligence. What we know from research and scientific data is that contrary to common thought our heart is the predictor of reaction before our brain. Our heart shifts first, then on to the brain, and lastly, we get effects in our body like a gut reaction, chills or stress response.
    • A beautiful unifying factor is that all religions regard to the heart as the seat of intelligence. We are starting to understand from a scientific standpoint how and why this happens.
    • The language of intuition is emotion. Comments like 'this feels right' is actually right on point. It is our feelings, whether it be joy, peace, overwhelm, frustration, etc. that allows us to tune into our intuition.

  • Learn These 4 Steps to More Joy with Chip Franks
Chip Franks, known as The Joy Guy and Chief Miracle Worker (CMW) of the Miracle Morning community with #1 bestselling author, Hal Elrod, is quite possibly one of the most appreciative, kind and joyful people on the planet. Chip wasn't always able to feel this way and struggled in the past with depression and then having a stroke in the past five years. Chip shares some incredible wisdom about how to have more joy, gratitude and to deepen the sweetness of your life. The 4 Joy Pillars:
    1. Activate appreciation in ALL things (easier said than done, this is a daily practice)
    2. Affirmed philosophy - learning to feel the divine timing of everything
    3. Abundance and adding to your life - bettering yourself through positive personal development
    4. AOk acts of kindness - do one act of kindness every single day. This will raise your joy quotient!
Intuition: Chip's take is that intuition is the gateway where God speaks to you and is always for your best. 10x your Gratitude and Gratitude Practice:
    • Chip recommends doing this practice every day in the morning and evening. Ask yourself these 5 simple questions and journal on each of them: 1. Gratitude for something profound 2. Gratitude about something you take for granted 3. Gratitude for Divine Cherishing (something you could consider bad, but looking for a blessing behind it) 4. Gratitude on people, places, things 5. Gratitude for an experience, or person, place or thing.
    • Wear a coin in your shoe. Sounds odd, but Chip has been doing this for over 5 years and it's a great reminder everytime he feels the coin to be grateful, present and mindful. He said it reminds him to allow God to show through his actions.
    • Set a joy alarm every day at a time when you feel most sluggish. Chip's joy alarm says "I'm so very blessed!" and plays the song 'It's a wonderful world', to remind him to stay in that space of gratitude, connection and joy.

  • Howard Martin: Did you know your heart has intelligence?
Howard Martin is one of the original leaders who helped Doc Childre found HeartMath. In 1999 he co-authored The HeartMath Solution published by HarperSanFrancisco and he has been with HeartMath's world-wide training and consulting team since its inception in 1991. In 2016 he went on to co-author Heart Intelligence. He is also the producer of two award winning musical recordings including Doc Childre's Heart Zones which spent 50 consecutive weeks on Billboard Magazine's music charts. In 2019 he produced a video-based learbing experience, The HeartMath Experience During his career with HeartMath, he has been instrumental in business development and in delivering HeartMath's practical, yet dynamic, programs to thousands of participants world-wide. Because of his universal appeal, he has conducted training programs and keynote presentations in Fortune 100 companies, government agencies, all four branches of the U.S. military, school systems, ecumenical organizations and through publicly promoted events in over 75 cities on four continents. He is a member of Transformational Leadership Council, an exclusive organization made up of well-known authors and acknowledged leaders in the field of personal and organizational development and he is a member of Evolutionary Leaders, an organization founded by Depak Chopra comprised of many of the world's most respected visionary leaders. What you might not know is that in a former life, Howard was also a leading drummer for bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd and Bob Seger. Here's the thing, those phrases we've all heard like "follow your heart" have scientific backing. Some of the amazing nuggets of wisdom from this conversation are as follows: Things We Learned From This Episode
    • You heart is an information processing center that gives signals to the brain, and from the brain to the body. So many of us live from the neck up and don't realize the incredible wisdom and real intelligence in our hearts. As Howard said, his heart's intelligence is his own best friend.
    • To better define heart intelligence, Howard explained it as an intuitive high speed knowingness that gives birth to most of our generative emotions like more caring, kindness, joy and love. It is the essential intelligence that navigates life to it's highest fulfillment
    • We spoke of a new world emerging that is based on a higher consciousness, which then changes what we pereive. While Howard can't predict what exactly will emergy, he shared that we can see an increasing polarization and exposure of gross inequities. This polarization will lead to shifts in our systems and overall global consciousness, which ultimately will be for the best in the long run.
    • Most importantly, when you add your heart to something, you never lose.

  • Meet the CEO of HeartMath, Dr. Deborah Rozman
Deborah Rozman, Ph.D., is President and CEO of HeartMath Inc. She is a behavioral psychologist, educator, and author. HeartMath develops scientifically validated programs for emotional self-regulation, energy management and resilience to improve health and well-being and optimize performance. HeartMath also the award-winning emWave and the Inner Balance HRV coherence technologies for nervous system self-regulation. http://www.heartmath.com. Deborah has appeared in documentary films, numerous telesummits, and hosted webinars with Dr. Daniel Amen, author of Change your Brain, Change your Life who wrote the forward to HeartMath's Brain Fitness Program, and with trauma specialist Dr. Bessel van der Kelk on healing trauma with heart rate variability coherence training. Deborah co-authored the Transforming book series, published by New Harbinger. The series includes four titles, including Transforming Stress, Transforming Anger, Transforming Anxiety and Transforming Depression. She also co-authored Heart Intelligence: Connecting with the Intuitive Guidance of the Heart. I had the pleasure to meet Deborah at the HeartMath Summit for Lifting Global Consciousness in Tulum this past fall. I was helping to facilitate their conference through the XChange facilitation methodology, which is in harmony with HeartMath in that it's all about focusing on strengths, thriving and flourishing. I fell in love with HeartMath's mission and work, the variety of HeartMath coherence practices we learned, as well as learning the science behind heart intelligence. This interview gives you a lot more information and understanding as to how our heart truly is the wise leader to follow. You will see why popular phrases like 'follow your heart' are backed by science and are real. Here are a few main takeaways from our very in-depth conversation about all things heart connection related. Things We Learned From This Episode
    1. Our hearts naturally have a varied heart rate rhythm pattern, called HRV. Anything that is stressful will cause a more chaotic pattern wave, whereas when you are feeling joyful, peaceful or love, your wave pattern will be incoherence. You can learn to shift your mood and perception of life, and train yourself to get into heart coherence. This has extraordinarily healthy benefits on all aspects of your life.
    2. The way out of stress, anger and depression are connected to shifting your heart wave pattern. You can learn these techniques on the website, heartmath.com and/or with a HeartMath certified trainer and practitioner.
    3. Intuition, while often felt as a gut feeling, actually is signaled first in the heart and travels to the brain.
    4. 4. Gratitude actually opens our frontal lobe for compassion and allows for heart coherence. Another great reason to start and have a gratitude practice.

  • World Renown Psychic Medium & Bestselling Author on Signs, Laura Lynne Jackson
Laura Lynne Jackson, an international speaker, teacher, and practicing psychic medium, is the author of the New York Times bestsellers The Light Between Us, and Signs: The Secret Language of the Universe. Jackson was a full-time high school English teacher for nearly 20 years before fully embracing her path and dedicating herself to honoring our connections to each other, our earthly existence, and to the other side. She is dedicated to working with scientists in order to explore and understand the survival of consciousness outside of bodily death, as well as teaching people how to open to their own psychic and intuitive abilities in order to fully step into and embrace their divine energy and live their best lives. Laura currently works as a research medium with the Windbridge Institute and serves on the board of the Forever Family Foundation, a nonprofit, science-based organization dedicated to helping people in grief, where she also volunteers her time and services. Jackson has been featured on The Today Show, Dr. Oz, Fox and Friends, Good Day New York, Telemundo, the Tokyo-based Fuji Television Network, The Huffington Post, Goop.com, Oprah.com, and various news and media throughout the United States and abroad. She is currently working on her second book, Signs: The Secret Language of the Universe, due out in the spring of 2019. Jackson lives in New York with her attorney-by-day, ghost hunter-by-night husband, and their three children, all of whom are psychic. You can find Laura's upcoming sessions at Kripalu, The Omega Institute, Gallery gatherings and more at LauraLynneJackson.com. There are some very important takeaways from our conversation. One of the most crucial things Laura said, and that I want you to know, is that we ALL have the ability to tune in, to access our intuition or psychic abilities. It's just a matter of practicing, giving our monkey mind a rest (meditation or doing things where our minds go off line, like washing dishes or doing laundry)and keeping track of the evidence of receiving signs and information. What I love about Laura is her humility, grace, ability to teach us how to tune in and making this accessible for all. Here are some of the key aspects from our talk: Things We Learned From This Episode
    1. We are all connected by cords of light to the other side. We all have a team of light, spirit guides and loved ones who've passed on that are here to guide and love us. We are never alone.
    2. No one needs a psychic as we all have the ability to connect. It starts by being open to this connection and letting go of fear or doubt.
    3. A great way to connect with a loved one who has transitioned is to ask for signs. Laura recommends asking for an obscure song, phrase, number, and animal as a sign with that person. Make note of when you see these signs and how you felt. I personally keep an 'Evidence Journal' to remind myself of all the love from past loved ones.
    4. We all have access to 1 or all of the 4 'Clairs'; Clair Voyant (the ability to see without your physical eyes, cognitive dreams), Clair Sentient (the most common one we have; a gut feeling, reading energy, sensation located in your solar plexus), Clair Audient (the ability to hear something that is not your voice such as a name, yes or no answer) and Clair Cognizance (knowing something in your being). We are all able to perceive energy and we are all made of energy.
    5. Meditating and learning to still your mind, asking for signs and connection, thanking your team of light when you do receive a message and sharing it with others are all ways to increase your abilities to access your beloved team of love and light.

You can learn how to use your intuitive superpowers in Julie's free You-est You Community for Soul Seekers on Facebook. To learn more about Julie, go to juliereisler.com. What an honor to record the last episode of the year and share with you my thoughts on intuition. My belief is that tapping into your intuition, your inner wisdom and higher self, is the gate to your you-est you. It is my desire to help you to unlock and trust this innate superpower which we all have. I hope this episode shines the light on your own inner knowing and gifts, and gives you tools how to listen, sense and/or see it. The most important thing is to become open to observing and living from this place of higher knowing. Here are a few of the tools I share that have helped me build my own intuition faith muscle. I'd LOVE to hear your intuition stories, experiences and high point moments. Intuition Boosters:
    1. Meditate/silence daily: this is crucial to get out of the fight/flight stress state and to create a habit of slowing down and tuning in. Your mind will still produce thoughts. You are not doing this incorrectly if you still have thoughts racing in your mind. Find a meditation that is guided, or music, nature sounds or silence and ideally give yourself 10 - 15 minutes (or start with 3 - 5) to be still and in the present moment. Check out the Insight Timer app for incredible free meditations (I have a bunch too, in case they interest you).
    2. Intuitive Journaling: after you meditate, ask your heart wisdom or inner knowing questions or for wisdom. Write down whatever comes to your heart without editing. No need to be articulate or worry about spelling or grammar. This is about connecting to your higher self. Notice the patterns and words that appear over time. I've received some of my best ideas and answers from this process. I'd encourage you to do this daily.
    3. Track your evidence: keep a journal or ongoing list to track evidence of the synchronicities, signs, evidence, clues and intuitive information you are getting. This is a powerful practice that will build your intuition muscle.
Join us over at the free Facebook community to share your stories, evidence and thoughts at The You-est You Community for Soul Seekers. Hope to see you there!

  • Celebrity Chef Spike Mendelsohn
Spike's career, spanning nearly three decades, can be described as nothing short of creatively diverse. From chef and restaurateur to television personality, product developer and consultant, Spike is a force to be reckoned with in the culinary world. After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America, Spike worked with some of the world's most renowned chefs and restaurateurs such as Gerard Boyer, Thomas Keller, Sirio Maccioni and Drew Nieporent. After making his television debut on Bravo TV's Top Chef, Spike went on to appear on several other cooking-related shows, including Life After Top Chef, Iron Chef America, Late Night Chef Fight and Beat Bobby Flay. He also hosted Midnight Feast and Food Network's Kitchen Sink. In 2008, Spike opened up the first restaurant in his culinary empire on Washington DC's Capitol Hill: Good Stuff Eatery. His burger joint quickly became a favorite of political elites, including President Barack Obama. This success inspired a cookbook (The Good Stuff Cookbook) and multiple locations across the country and overseas. Following the opening of Good Stuff Eatery, Spike opened up We, The Pizza, Béarnaise and Santa Rosa Taqueria. Spike's newest restaurant, PLNT Burger, is dedicated to crafting and redefining some of America's favorite foods without the use of any animal products.Outside of his restaurants, Spike's popular DC speakeasy (The Sheppard) has paved the way for a second concept called The Morris. Applying his experience and expertise as a chef and restaurateur, Spike has worked with several brands by providing them with creative and comprehensive culinary consulting services. His consulting projects include Sunny's and Campton Yard in Miami Beach and Vim & Victor at the state-of-the-art sports and active entertainment center, The St. James, in Virginia. In an effort to put his passion for food equity and education into action, Spike began working with organizations like CARE and DC Central Kitchen as a chef ambassador and contributor. His work landed him the position as the first chairman of DC's Food Policy Council. He has used his voice to speak out about improving the quality of school lunches, equal access to whole and healthy foods and for the protection of the SNAP program. Spike continues to partner with groups like Food Rescue US and Food Policy Action to make a positive impact on our food system. Most recently, Spike has combined his intimate knowledge of the Relais & Chateau kitchen life with his experience in media production by partnering with Show of Force as an executive producer to deliver a riveting and never-before-seen look behind the curtain that is the Inn at Little Washington. The Inn At Little Washington: A Delicious New Documentary will premier at the Virginia Film Festival and air on PBS in early 2020. Spike lives in the DC area with his wife, Cody, and their son. When he's not in the kitchen or lobbying on The Hill, Spike can be found surfing any river or ocean that has a wave. What a powerful and in-depth conversation about how to follow your passion, purpose and talents, and to make positive change while doing so. The main take away for me, in addition to his incredible amount of success with being a chef and restauranteur, and newest endeavor with PLNT Burger, is how he tapped into his creativity and inner voice. We talked a lot about how Spike really used his intuition and stayed connected to his flow state to create a meaningful and impactful career. A powerful reminder is to follow the ideosynchronicities you notice, and your inner voice.
