Homework Exercise

1. Identify Your Attachment Style

  • Start by reflecting on your relationships and how you feel about close connections and independence.
  • Do you seek closeness and feel anxious about relationships?
  • Do you value independence to the extent of pushing others away?
  • Or do you find a balance between closeness and independence?

 

2. Reflect on Health Decisions

  • Once you have a sense of your attachment style, think about the health decisions you've made recently.
  • Have you been avoiding healthcare appointments?
  • Are you proactive about your health?
  • How do you react to health advice or concerns?

 

3. Connect the Dots

  • Look for patterns between your attachment style and your health behaviors.
  • For instance, if you identify with an anxious attachment style, do you notice that your health decisions are influenced by fears or anxieties related to relationships?

 

4. Journal Your Findings

  • Write down your reflections.
  • Journaling can help you process your thoughts and feelings more deeply.
  • Note any insights you gain about how your attachment style may be impacting your health decisions.

 

5. Set One Small Goal

  • Based on your reflections, set a small, achievable goal related to improving one aspect of your health journey.
  • This could be scheduling a health check-up you've been putting off, starting a daily gratitude practice to improve your mental health, or taking a short daily walk to increase physical activity.
