Your brain can go from “this is fine”, to “this is hard”, to “this is too much I want to quit” - really quickly. The key here is to understand that your brain is wired to avoid danger. It does this by constantly predicting negative futures based on the struggles of the present. When we’re just at 40% of our capabilities, our brain will estimate that this isn’t sustainable and make us feel that we’re at a 100% of out potential and therefore we should quit now. The goal is to get your brain to zoom right in to the present moment and takeaway and internal conversions about the future. ❤️

Have you struggled with forming good routines? Like a great morning routine, exercise or even reading before bed?

It’s really easy to give up on routines, and think they just work for us. Instead it’s important to understand that our brain is wired with patterns, including a pattern of abandoning routines when things get tough. As a result we often stop trying to set routines, because we know it just won’t work for us in the long run.

The issue stems from the design of our brain - it’s goal is to prevent us from cognitive discomfort - so it will try to avoid sticking to routines if that means you experiencing any form of cognitive pain.

Our brains aren’t built for success - they’re built to keep us alive. And that for our brain means keeping us within our safety zones - which are our known states.

So on one hand you want to achieve so many things - but your brain is often trying to stop you - sabotage you - in an attempt to keep you away from something your brain doesn’t already know through experience. 

In order to overcome this - we need to train our brain to pre-experience the future you want to create and bring that emotional biochemistry in to our bodies ahead of time- so our brain doesn’t repel what we want - instead it creates it. ❤️

Sometimes it just takes one significant person in your life to tell you a corrective command that your brain holds onto and forms a coping response in the form of a mask. 

A correct command starts with “you are…” ie you are too quiet, too shy; too loud etc - and this can go very deep within the person.

 This mask then hides your true self - and you become more and more distant from the world, others and even yourself.
