Today we are going to look at some expressions that you can use in English and particularly this is going to be helpful for our Taiwanese listeners who might be learning English.

今天我們要來看看一些英語表達方式,特別是對正在學英文的台灣聽眾來說,這會非常有幫助。

That's right. We are going to be focusing on English expressions related to coffee and how to use those expressions to sound more fluent and natural when you are speaking English.

沒錯!我們將專注於與咖啡相關的英文表達方式,以及如何使用這些表達來讓你的英語更流暢、更自然。

I am really excited about this one.

我對這個主題感到非常興奮!

Yeah, me too.

我也是!

I think it's going to be helpful for a lot of people.

我覺得這對很多人來說都會很有幫助。

Yeah, definitely. So, like you know, sometimes in English you might learn a phrase that's technically grammatically correct, but when you actually say it out loud, it just sounds weird.

對,絕對是這樣。有時候,在學英文時,你可能學到了一個語法上完全正確的句子,但當你實際說出來時,卻聽起來怪怪的。

It sounds weird. Yeah. It just doesn't sound natural. It's like the grammar is there, but the vibe is off.

對,聽起來不太對勁,就是不自然。語法是正確的,但感覺卻不對。

Exactly.

沒錯!

It's kind of like if you were to say, you know, a phrase in Mandarin in a very, very formal way, almost like a robot or something.

這有點像是如果你用中文說一句話,但以一種非常正式、幾乎像機器人的方式說出來。

Like reading out of a textbook.

就像是直接從教科書上念出來的那種感覺。

Yeah, exactly. It makes sense, but it just doesn't sound natural. So, a perfect example of this is the phrase, "Let's drink coffee."

對,完全正確!它的確說得通,但就是不自然。這方面最典型的例子就是「Let's drink coffee.(我們來喝咖啡吧。)」。

Okay.

好吧。

Now, grammatically, this is fine. There's nothing wrong with it. But to a native English speaker, it just sounds a bit unnatural.

從語法上來說,這句話沒有錯,但對母語者來說,它聽起來有點不自然。

Huh. Okay. Let's drink coffee.

嗯,好吧。「Let's drink coffee.」

Yeah.

對啊。

So, why wouldn't it sound natural?

那為什麼它聽起來不自然呢?

Well, it's all about how we usually use language. You see, native English speakers tend to use simpler and more direct phrases for everyday things like getting coffee.

這關係到我們日常使用語言的方式。母語者通常會使用更簡單、更直接的表達方式來描述日常活動,例如去喝咖啡。

I see.

我懂了。

So, instead of saying, "Let's drink coffee." Yeah.

所以,與其說「Let's drink coffee.」,對吧?

You would typically say, "Let's have coffee. Let's have coffee."

你通常會說「Let's have coffee.(我們來喝咖啡吧。)」。

Yeah, that sounds way more natural to me.

對,這聽起來確實自然多了!

Yeah, it's short, it's sweet, and everyone understands what you mean.

沒錯,這句話簡短、自然,而且大家都能理解你的意思。

Okay, let's have coffee. Perfect.

好,「Let's have coffee.」,這句話很完美。

Yeah, I'm going to use that one.

對,我要開始用這句話了!

Definitely.

絕對沒錯。

So, are there any other ways we could suggest going to get a coffee?

那還有其他方式可以用來邀請別人喝咖啡嗎?

Yeah, absolutely. So, another way to suggest coffee is to simply ask, "Do you want a drink?"

當然可以!另一種邀請別人喝咖啡的方法就是直接問:「Do you want a drink?(想喝點東西嗎?)」

Okay, that's interesting. Do you want a drink?

哦,這很有趣。「Do you want a drink?」

Yeah, got it.

對,我懂了!

Uh, easy peasy.

嗯,這真的很簡單!

So, we talked about "have," we talked about "do you want a drink," right?

所以我們剛剛聊到了「have」,也聊到了「Do you want a drink?」,對吧?

Are there any other words that kind of make me sound more like a native speaker when it comes to coffee?

還有其他說法能讓我聽起來更像母語者嗎,特別是在談論咖啡時?

Yeah, definitely. One word that you can use to sound even more casual and native-like is the word "grab."

當然有!一個可以讓你的語氣聽起來更隨興、更像母語者的單字就是「grab」。

Oh, okay.

哦,好!

So, instead of saying "Let's have coffee," you could say "Let's grab some coffee."

所以,與其說「Let's have coffee.」,你可以說「Let's grab some coffee.(我們去喝杯咖啡吧。)」。

"Let's grab some coffee."

「我們去喝杯咖啡吧。」

Yeah. I do like the sound of that.

對,我喜歡這個說法!

Yeah, it's very casual.

對,這聽起來很隨性。

Yeah, way more casual than "Let's drink coffee."

比起「Let's drink coffee.」,這樣的說法更輕鬆自然。

Yeah, it's just much more natural.

沒錯,這樣的表達方式更自然。

So, what is it about "grab" that makes it so casual?

那「grab」這個詞為什麼會讓語氣聽起來比較輕鬆呢?

Well, "grab" implies a sense of spontaneity and informality. You know, it's like you're saying, "Hey, let's just seize this moment and enjoy some coffee together."

嗯,「grab」這個詞帶有一種隨性和不正式的感覺。就像是在說:「嘿,我們趁這個機會一起喝杯咖啡吧!」

Yeah. It's like a very in-the-moment kind of word.

對,這是一個很有即興感的詞。

Exactly. And "grab" isn't just limited to coffee either.

沒錯,而且「grab」這個詞不僅限於咖啡。

Oh, really?

哦,真的嗎?

You can use it for other food and drinks as well. So, you can say, "Grab a drink. Grab some food."

你也可以用它來說其他食物或飲料。例如:「Grab a drink.(喝一杯吧。)」「Grab some food.(去吃點東西吧。)」

Yeah, it all just implies a very casual, unplanned get-together.

對,這些表達都帶有一種輕鬆、隨性的聚會感。

Yeah, perfect for meeting up with some friends.

對,非常適合跟朋友約見面。

Yeah, exactly.

對,完全正確!

Okay, so "grab"—I like that one.

好,「grab」這個詞,我喜歡!

Yeah, it sounds good. It feels natural.

對,這聽起來很好,也很自然。

I'm going to try and use that one.

我要試著用這個說法。

You got it.

沒錯,就是這樣!

So, are there any other super casual ways that we can invite someone to have a coffee?

還有其他更隨興的方式可以用來邀請別人喝咖啡嗎?

Yeah, for sure. So, if you want to be super casual, you could just say something like "Coffee sometime?" or "Up for a coffee?"

當然!如果你想更隨性地邀請對方,可以說「Coffee sometime?(哪天一起喝咖啡?)」或「Up for a coffee?(想喝杯咖啡嗎?)」

Yeah, those are very casual.

對,這些說法真的很隨性。

Yeah, it's just like a suggestion.

對,這就像是一個輕鬆的建議而已。

Yeah, it's very low pressure, just a friendly invitation, right?

對,這完全沒有壓力,就像是一個友善的邀請,對吧?

But we do need to be a little bit careful with the word "grab."

但我們需要稍微注意一下「grab」這個詞。

Why is that?

為什麼呢?

Because it does have other meanings as well.

因為它還有其他意思。

Okay.

好。

It can also mean to take quickly or even to steal.

它也可以表示快速拿取,甚至可以表示「偷走」。

Oh, right. So, like, "He grabbed my purse."

哦,對,就像「He grabbed my purse.(他搶走了我的包包。)」。

Exactly.

沒錯!

It's very different from grabbing a coffee.

這跟「grab a coffee」的意思完全不同。

Very different. Yeah. Or I could say, "I need to go grab my phone." That just means I need to quickly fetch it.

完全不同。對,或者我可以說「I need to go grab my phone.(我要去拿一下我的手機。)」,這只是表示我要快點去拿。

Okay. Got it.

好,我懂了!

So, context is very important with the word "grab."

所以,對於「grab」這個詞來說,語境非常重要。

It is.

沒錯。

You have to be aware of the situation.

你必須留意使用的情境。

Right. So, "grab" is our little chameleon word for the day.

沒錯,所以「grab」就是我們今天學到的「變色龍單字」。

Exactly.

完全正確!

So, let's sum up everything we talked about today. So, instead of saying "Let's drink coffee," right?

那我們來總結一下今天的內容吧。與其說「Let's drink coffee.」,對吧?

We can use "have" or "grab."

我們可以用「have」或「grab」。

Yeah.

對!

And if we want to be super casual, we can just say "Coffee sometime?" or "Up for a coffee?"

如果我們想要更隨性地邀請對方,可以說「Coffee sometime?」或「Up for a coffee?」。

Absolutely. And you know what else? The key to sounding natural is to just keep practicing and pay attention to how native English speakers use these phrases, right?

完全正確!而且你知道嗎?要讓你的英語聽起來自然,關鍵就是不斷練習,並且注意母語者是如何使用這些表達的,對吧?

And see how they use them in different situations.

觀察他們在不同情境下如何使用這些表達。

That's right.

沒錯!

So, don't be afraid to experiment and try them out.

所以,不要害怕嘗試,多練習這些說法!

Yeah.

對啊。

And you'll sound more and more natural over time.

這樣一來,你的英語會變得越來越自然。

That's it.

沒錯!

So, now I have a question for you to think about.

現在,我有一個問題讓大家思考一下。

Okay.

好。

What other everyday English expressions might sound unnatural?

有哪些日常英語表達可能會聽起來不自然呢?

Yeah.

對啊。

Or have some more authentic alternatives that we could be using instead?

或者有沒有更地道的說法可以替代呢?

Yeah, that's a good question.

這是個很好的問題!

I mean, there's so many.

我覺得有很多呢!

There's tons.

真的超多的!

So, that is your homework for today.

所以,這就是你們今天的作業!

You got it.

收到!

Go out there and listen to how people are speaking.

出去聽聽看人們是怎麼說的吧!

That's right.

沒錯!

And see if you can find some more of these little hidden gems.

看看你能不能找到更多這些小小的語言寶藏!

Awesome.

太棒了!
