Some ofShanghai's gas stations are now selling Number Minus 10 diesel（minus 10-type diesel）【-10号柴油】, which can be used in temperatures as low as minus 5degrees Celsius. Sinopec【中石化】said the condensationpoint【凝点】 for winterdiesel is lower, which makes it suitable for buses and fire engines.

38 gas stations arealready supplying the winter diesel. An oildepot【油库】 in YangpuDistrict is supplying more than half of the total amount of winter diesel forthe city. It now supplies about 300 tons of winter diesel each day and isexpected to supply as much as 1,500 tons daily. Sinopec said moreenvironmentally friendly bio-diesel【生物柴油】for winter will be released to the market by the end ofthe month.

#有趣的冷知识

-10号柴油的 “-10”代表柴油的凝结点，也就是零下10摄氏度。

同理“0”号柴油的凝结点就是0摄氏度。

生物柴油是指植物油（如菜籽油、大豆油、花生油、玉米油、棉籽油等）、动物油（如鱼油、猪油、牛油、羊油等）、废弃油脂或微生物油脂与甲醇或乙醇经酯转化而形成的脂肪酸甲酯或乙酯。生物柴油是典型的“绿色能源”，具有环保性能好、发动机启动性能好、燃料性能好，原料来源广泛、可再生等特性。近年来许多研究证实，无论是小型、轻型柴油机还是大型、重型柴油机或是拖拉机，燃烧生物柴油后碳氢化合物都减少55%~60%，颗粒物减少20%~50%，CO减少45%以上，多环芳烃减少75%~85%。
