In this episode, I recount the story of my failed attempt to summit Snowmass Mountain in Colorado's Elk Range and the critical lessons I took away from the experience. I discuss my initial plan, the hike's challenging conditions, and how unanticipated obstacles led me to turn back just 0.2 miles from the summit. Reflecting on the failure, I emphasize the value of making safe decisions, the importance of reliable trip reports, and the impact of group dynamics. Finally, I share my successful return to Snowmass a month and a half later, achieving closure and solidifying key principles for future climbs.
