B: I care about the candidate's positions on issues and their personal characteristics such as their leadership styles, experience, and honesty.

[實用句型]

* _____ + be 動 + 動詞過去分詞 -- 表達: _____被…… (被動語態)

說明: 一般正常的情況大多會用主動語態. 但若是1)要強調動作的接受者, 2)不知執行動作者為誰, 3)或是認為執行動作者不重要時, 通常會使用被動語態.

例句:

1-1) The popular magazines are printed and distributed around the city by XYZ publisher.這些受歡迎的雜誌被XYZ出版社印出來並發送到城市各地.

(說話者要強調動作的接受者the popular magazines)

printed 是 print 的過去分詞, distributed 是 distribute 的過去分詞

1-2) This bike trail was named one of the world’s 10 most breathtaking cycle paths by CNNGo.

這段自行車道曾被 CNNGo 評選為世界十大最美的自行車道.

(說話者要強調動作的接受者this bike trail)

named 是 name 的過去分詞

2) His money was stolen yesterday.

他的錢昨天被偷了.

(說話者不知執行動作者為誰)

stolen 是 steal 的過去分詞

3) Taipei 101 was built in 2004.

台北101(被)建於2004年.

(說話者認為執行動作者不重要)

* such as … 像, 諸如, 例如… (用於列舉) (類似 “like”)

例句:

Fruits such as lemons and pineapples are rich in Vitamin C. 像檸檬, 鳯梨的水果富含維他命C.

I try to avoid sweets such as cakes and ice cream. 我試著避開甜食如蛋糕和冰淇淋.

*以上單字詞性的標註, 是以此單字在本對話句子的結構中之性質(角色)來標註. 同一個字在不同句構下, 其詞性可能不同.
