37: Daily Habits to Prevent and Fight Cancer!

Today's podcast episode with Keith Bishop is a simple reminder that we can fight cancer or lower cancer risk through our daily habits.

My takeaway today was that let's not make cancer prevention too complicated; there are simple habits we can incorporate daily that can knock down our risk.

  1. Move a bit more each day.
  2. Cut back on sugar and alcohol.
  3. Don't drink super-hot beverages (darn it! I love my piping hot tea 😊)
  4. Keith also told me that while colon cancer risk seems to be going down for older folks, colon cancer in younger people is on the rise. Why?

Keith believes a sedentary lifestyle is a significant contributor.

What that means to me is Get Up and Move, even if you add only a few sets of stairs or a quick walk after dinner.

My biggest takeaway from this conversation with Keith is that small changes can make a HUGE health impact!

Please see Keith’s links below on some of the topics he discussed with me, including how higher consumption of sugar foods and beverages significantly increases your risk for developing cancer:

      2. Let Food Be Thy Medicine: The Role of Diet in Colorectal Cancer: a Narrative Review

I love using Bison! It's very nutrient dense and contains conjugated linoleic acid (I know, what the heck does that mean?), which means Bison has anti-inflammatory properties.

Here are the other reasons why I love using Bison in place of ground beef:

        1. Higher amounts of omega three fatty acids.
        2. More b12, zinc, iron, and selenium than beef.
        3. Some studies show it's got four times the vitamin E compared to beef.
        4. Lower in calories and cholesterol.
        5. It is lower fat, so it will cook faster than ground beef.
        6. My friends at BB are offering a deal that they've never offered to anyone! I had to say "pretty please" a couple of times, and guess what? It worked! I can't tell you how long they will offer this deal to me, but here it is:

🦬 Free Bison for a year + $20 off your first box using code ENOS! 🦬
