What happens when we climb to top of a hill? We gain a very useful perspective especially when it comes to problem solving. That’s why castles & forts are built on higher ground. We can see the enemy before they see us, we know where they are, we know what obstacles they need to overcome and so this higher perspective put us in a better position.
In today’s podcast, we are going to zoom out and reach higher ground, taking a panoramic snap shot of the 7 key hormone players at menopause.
We take a look at each one in turn, what it’s responsible for and how each one might affect the other. We also take a look at what symptoms can occur when each one is out of balance.
In this episode we touch on:
Oestrogen dominance (and oestrogen decline);
Progesterone (and stress);
Testosterone (libido and strength);
Adrenalin and Cortisol (and the HPA axis);
Thyroid (and communication) and Insulin.
There’s a lot of juice in this episode including:
Why strength training is so important;
The usefulness of altering our perception of stress;
Improving resilience;
Better coping skills in helping the body to avoid ageing;
Why our periods are a snap shot of our health;
Social factors involved in menopause symptom severity.
Hope you enjoy.
