  • You can "recalculate" but please choose a specific direction..

Focusing on one thing doesn't mean the others would have been wrong choices. But you'll never be outstanding or experience extraordinary success unless you choose one direction for the next five years. And as Alice in Wonderland was told: "If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there."

    Questions:

    1. How can I combine and leverage my paid courses, newsletter, subscription service, membership, mastermind group & teaching?

  • Maybe your life is too easy…….

Every day I hear from people who have been given all the advantages – prestigious university degrees, fine homes, cars and positions. And they suspect the easy life they've been given is keeping them from the challenge of adventure that would release the best version of themselves. Are you taking the "safe" route in life to avoid the stresses and challenges that are trying to release your biggest success?

    Questions:

    1. I hate to quit a job after only 4 months, but the company has changed what we agreed to.

    2. How can we advise our 22-year old granddaughter who just had her car stolen and already owes us $7000?

    3. How hard could that be to put together a profitable public event?

    4. What are the books you recommend that will get me out of the doldrums, that are as life-changing and impactful as any you've ever read?

  • Does quitting your job mean you're giving up?

There are many times when quitting is the smartest thing to do. If you're hitting your thumb with a hammer, don't try to do it better or more efficiently - stop hitting your thumb. Quit - look for a better alternative. Don't focus on the humiliation of quitting. See this as a go-up opportunity. Quitting the thing where you're just mediocre or that is making you miserable is not a humiliation - it's a brilliant decision to move to something better. It can free you up to move into your Zone of Genius.

    Questions:

    1. I'm Dean of Students but was just arrested and am now on administrative leave. I think my career in education is over.

    2. My question is about when to 'cut the cord' on a business idea you've started working on.

    3. Dan, what are your thoughts on doing business together with friends at church as a group?

    4. Dan - I'm in the late 3rd Quarter of life. Is there a time for a comeback?

  • Is Positive Thinking Dangerous?

A now former member of our Eagles community shared an experience where his "optimism" nearly set him up for a scam. It has been revealed to him that a positive mindset is dangerous and he wants no part of it. Clearly, I'm willing to risk what my optimistic thinking leads me to.

    Questions:

    1. Does positive thinking make you more vulnerable to being taken advantage of?
    2. What should you do if you've failed to reach a goal?
    3. What's your best next action if you've been fired from a job?
    4. What are some steps to increase your positive thinking?

Seven Steps for Increasing your Positive Thinking

    1. Control what you think about - what you allow into your mind
    2. Spend time with people who are already performing at the level at which you want to perform
    3. Eliminate "excusitis" from your speech
    4. Stretch your vision to see what can be; not what is
    5. Set goals that excite and inspire you
    6. Invest in yourself - in ways that build your mental and spiritual power
    7. Don't wait for perfect conditions - anticipate obstacles and solve them as they arise

  • My employer will fire me if he knows I'm building a side business.…

    Questions:

    1. What should I do while I'm waiting for things to get better?

    2. My employer will fire me if he knows I'm building a side business.

    3. Do hobbies count toward the 5% of our income being invested in ourselves?

    4. Many times your podcasts and quotes have inspired me, but I am unable to take any action due to the fear of moving my feet.

If I use your question we'll send you an autographed copy of 48 Days to the Work You Love

    Summary

    1. Don't just wait for things to get better. Spend that time "preparing" for the opportunities that are coming.
    2. Give your employer 40 hours of competent, reliable work. Use the other 128 hours a week to build the life you want.
    3. Invest in yourself in ways that bring you variety and enjoyment as well as ways to be more productive.
    4. Decide what you want your life to be three years from now, then make decisions today that take you in that direction.
