In this special episode of two halves, Jay and Tris discuss the The South West Traverse, a 44 mile trail race in Cornwall which took place on 30th May 2021. The first half of the episode was recorded four days before race day, where we both discuss the route, our training, nutrition plan and goals. The second half was recorded 24 hours after the race, where we review the highs and lows of the event and assess our performances.
The South West Traverse begins at the most southerly tip of the UK mainland and follows the coastal path 44 miles to the most westerly point at Land's End. The course undulates with over 6500 feet of vertical gain through rocky coves and bluffs, through fishing villages and the town of Penzance before heading into the rugged mostly unpopulated 12 miles leading to the finish.
