Mindset and empowerment coach Lani Lecielle wants other fellow ADHD women to be nicer to themselves near that time of the month. In this interview, she gives her best advice on shifting your mindset while you're navigating PMS symptoms that exasperate ADHD.
Is it anxiety & depression?Lani shares she started therapy at the beginning of 2019 for anxiety and depression. She was starting to feel better but she had a sense there was something more going on. She started reading research about ADHD. After her therapist dismissed her concerns, Lani pursued a second opinion.
After taking a test Lani thought the doctor would tell her she didn't have ADHD. But the doctor confirm Lani does have ADHD and had scored high on the scale.
ADHD & PMSLani describes feeling like she's turning into a completely different person about 11 days before her period starts. She remembers the first time she experienced a bad depression was when she was 16 before her period came on.
Now she knows there is a connection Lani has found it important to let go of expectations for herself when she has PMS.
Honour where you areLani has learned she needs to be easier on herself when she has PMS. She gives an example of having 10 tasks to do in a day, in the past she would have beaten herself up for not getting them done. She has found letting go and trying again the next day a much more loving way to be.
