Are you frustrated about Instagram’s darn algorithm? Well on June 8th 2021, Instagram released a blog post shedding light on how Instagram works.
We’re recapping the blog post + sharing our thoughts and opinions about what influencers and creators can take away from the blog post.
#1 What is the algorithm?
The first thing Instagram addresses is the misconception of the “Algorithm”. The truth is that Instagram doesn’t have JUST ONE algorithm that oversees what people do and don’t see on the app.
· In 2010: Instagram was a single stream of photos in chronological order
· In 2016: people were missing 70% of all their posts in feed.
· Instagram developed a Feed that ranked posts based on what you care most about.
As influencers, we’ve seen people villainize that darn Instagram algorithm. But if you take the time to understand how the app works, take the time to understand your audience, lay out a clear content strategy and plan for your brand, you honestly don’t need to be hyper focused on the algorithm.
