Clinicians often recommend dietary sodium reduction for almost all their patients with HF. Whether or not this practice should continue remains an uncertain question in almost every clinic visit. We spend a fair amount of time counselling patients on this, and patients want to know if they need to undertake a full change in their diet to improve how they feel or function, and if this changes will increase or decrease the chance of being in the hospital again.
