What is the Commoditization Threshold?

The Commoditization Threshold is a framework that describes the line every human capability sits on between scarcity and abundance. Capabilities above the threshold are scarce, difficult to produce, and more valuable on the labor market. Capabilities below it are abundant, easy to replicate, and no longer differentiate the professional who holds them, no matter how skilled they are personally. AI has moved a larger and more sophisticated group of human capabilities below this threshold than any previous technology, which is why senior expertise is now being repriced.
