This week we collaborate with Corbin Maxey from Animals to the Max podcast to discuss the Netflix documentary Tiger King. This documentary highlights the issues with private ownership of big cats, like Tigers, in the United States. It is believed there are more tigers in private ownership within the United States than there are in the wild. We spend quite a while discussing not only the documentary, but focus own on big cat ownership and exploitation.

In response to the events we all are enduring, we wanted to take this opportunity to speak to children about some of their favorite animals. We ask them to research a species for an interview and we get to listen and learn from the next generation. We encourage all the parents out there to share these episodes and ask your kids to research an animal and interview them about it. What did they learn? How are the animals doing in the wild? This is a great way to keep them engaged and learning.

Thank you for listening and our website can be accessed HERE

We decided to roll out an episode on one of the cutest animals on the planet, but one that is often forgotten. The Chinchilla brings a smile to anyone's face, but has a conservation story many are not aware of. In the early 1900s, the Chinchilla almost went extinct, prized for its fur. We talk about how the two species of Chinchilla are still hanging on in South America. We also talk about how Chinchillas have become a beloved pet for many.

This week we tackle the topic of "Conservation Optimism." With all the doom and gloom out there, sometimes it tough to find the positive. Just remember there are many thousands, like Julia Migne, who are out there fighting hard for wildlife. There is much to be optimistic about and we spend an hour discussing this issue and many more.

We are back with an American icon, the Bald Eagle. Not only are these incredible raptors, but also a great conservation success story. Once down to a few hundred breeding pairs in the United States (excluding Alaska), their population is back. Each week we learn something new and amazing, and the Bald Eagle is no exception.

As promised, this week we follow up Meerkats with our Warthog episode. Warthogs became even more loved after their appearance in Disney's Lion King movies. Timon the Meerkat was best friends with Pumbaa the Warthog. Warthogs are one tough species. Living in Africa, they have evolved to survive in some of the harshest environments for any animal.
