Today, I’m talking to Prue – an eating disorder recovery warrior and mother, who has type one diabetes and has recovered from anorexia nervosa. Prue has been very generous today in sharing her recovery story.
Prue experienced extremely challenging times as a child, having what she calls a ‘text book’ narcissistic father. She was then sent to boarding school and separated from her siblings and support network, feeling very abandoned. Prue then developed type 1 diabetes and was navigating this condition, pretty much in isolation.
Prue developed anorexia nervosa as a life raft and coping strategy to keep her safe in these hugely difficult circumstances. Today she shares her story openly, describing some of the things that have helped her in healing and ongoing management of diabetes.
I hope that you enjoy the conversation.
