Today on the show, we review perioperative considerations for patients with cardiovascular implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) include the following: pacemakers indicated for bradyarrhythmia treatment, implantable cardioverter defibrillators or ICDs for tachyarrhythmia management, and cardiac resynchronization therapy or CRT for patients with decreased systolic function combined with conduction delays. I cover viral transmission of SARS-CoV-2 and safety considerations for healthcare providers in the operating room and during airway manipulation as well as preoperative testing options depending on local or regional disease presence.
