Another Dolphins Podcast

On today episode of Phinsider Daily, we take a look at what to watch for as the Dolphins hold joint practices with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  How will they fare vs a team that many believe can be contenders in the NFC south?  How will the defense matchup vs Bruce Arians’ high-octane offense? Will Josh Rosen get a chance with the first team? Can Preston Williams continue to impress?

We then turn our attention to the Jadeveon Clowney rumors.  Is Miami interested in the premier pass rusher?  Or is it all just smoke and mirrors?  How will he fit in Brian Flores’ defense?

Lastly, we break down the newest depth chart.  And tell you who to keep an eye on as the second week of preseason begins.

All of this and much more, on this episode of Phinsider Daily.

Join Matt Cannata on today's edition of Phinsider Daily as he looks at the upcoming joint practices against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. What can we expect from these joint practices, how will they help the Dolphins, and what key things are we looking to get out of it? Hint: It has to do with both the offensive and defensive line.

We'll also continue to keep our eye on the quarterback competition in Miami. While Josh Rosen had a great performance against the Atlanta Falcons, he has not earned the title of starting quarterback just yet (and nor should he). He'll need another week of strong practices. With the likelihood that he will be named the starter for Thursday, he'll then need to come out against a starting defense and show that he continue his momentum.

At this point, it's his job to lose (even though he's not in the lead just yet). Can he take the reigns and get to where he needs to be, or will the pressure be too much for him to handle at this stage of him learning the offense? This week's practices will help figure that out, as well as the game on Thursday.

For Fitzpatrick, it's a chance for him to go against his former team in a comfortable environment. He knows some of the players on defense so while the coaches and schemes may have changed, he still knows their weaknesses. This is a great opportunity for him to show that he can be the starting quarterback, and he'll get his fair chance at doing so.

On today’s episode of Phinsider Daily, we discuss the Dolphins’ 34-27 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.  How did Josh Rosen look in his debut in Miami?  Should his play earn him first-team reps, and will his chemistry with Preston Williams continue to blossom as we approach the regular season?

We then discuss Miami’s ever-changing offensive line, and what needs to happen for the Dolphins to have success this upcoming season.  Lastly, we talk about the depth at defensive back, and what to expect from the defense in 2019.

On this edition of Phinsider Daily, Matt Cannata (@CannataPFN) takes a look at the Miami Dolphins opening preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday evening. What can we expect from new head coach Brian Flores in his first game as the man in charge? How about both coordinators who are also in this position for the first time. How will they handle the role of calling plays and running their respective units throughout the game?

Cannata looks at various positions and what questions still remain. He circles through the quarterbacks, running backs, linebackers, and more. With just a few weeks left until Week 1, these position battles will start sorting themselves out, but others will require a hard decision. What decisions might Flores make? Cannata dives into it and gives his thoughts on what position battles still remain.

On today’s episode of Phinsider Daily, we recap the first week of Dolphins’ training camp. Did Josh Rosen do enough at Saturday’s scrimmage to earn reps with the 1s? Will his repertoire with Preston Williams, continue throughout the regular season? Could the dynamic duo be Miami’s version of Tom Brady and Randy Moss (j/k)?

How will Charles Harris continue to progress under new head coach Brian Flores? Will he succeed in a 3-4 hybrid defense? Or is it too little, too late for the former first-round draft pick?
