In this ArTEEtude podcast episode, I Love West Cork Artists member and Artist Leo Rodas and Detlef Schlich having a conversation about Rodas inspiration in Art, his life in Guatemala and his art practice in Vallejo, California.A native of Guatemala, Leo Rodas, and his family immigrated to the United States in 1971, when he was just 13 years old. He and his family settled in San Francisco, where he finished school. Leo’s love for art began long before he moved to the United States. His mother was a fashion designer and his father enjoyed art as a hobby, thanks to the two of them he developed his own love of drawing and art expression in general and paved his path to becoming a full-time artist.ArTEEtude is West Cork´s first art, fashion and design podcast created and produced by Detlef Schlich. Schlich operates with his podcast cross-sectorally. For him, a visual artist has to think transversely instead of just enjoying the luxury of being the antagonist. To drive the narrative and to be a protagonist, he will dive and discover with us into the unknown and exciting deep ocean of the creative mind.
Detlef Schlich is Podcaster, Visual Artist, Film Maker and Ritual Designer, living and loving in West Cork and best known for his Essay about the Cause and Effect of Shamanism, Art and Digital Culture and the video installation Transodin´s Tragedy. He is mainly working in the field of performance, photography, painting, sound, installations, and film. To research our human condition and create artwork from this reflection he is using often the methodology of the digital shaman as alter ego.WEBSITE LINKS

In this ArTEEtude podcast episode, the Great-grandson of Tommy O’ Connell and musician Matt Diener sings with Detlef Schlich Christmas Songs and more. Matt is an I LOVE WEST CORK ARTISTS member and we listen to 2 songs, written by him and performed by THE BIG SIP. Matt Diener is the lead singer and guitar player of The Big Sip. Formed at Middlebury College, the Big Sip joined the college and jam-band circuit in 2016. A year later they released their debut EP, Music for Clapping, followed in 2018 by a second self-released EP, Sip Responsibly. With their understanding of the subtle connections between jazz, soul, and electronic music, The Big Sip creates a unique sound that encourages not only tender introspection but also the proud celebration of community. Through it all, Diener's soulful, mellifluous vocals are central, though they yield to the album's many instrumental explorations — reflecting the Big Sip's proclivity for extended improvisation at live shows.Tommy O’Connell, who grew up in what is now O’Sullivan’s shop in Skibbereen, Main Street, died in 1935.

Have a Little Faith: The John Hiatt Story Hardcover – September 14, 2021From the publisher's feed
Drawing on his practice in performance, photography, painting, sound, installation, film and media archaeology, Detlef treats the podcast not simply as a format, but as an artistic space in its own right — a place for philosophical inquiry, cultural critique, guest conversations, listener questions and poetic speculation.
In a world driven by speed, distraction and surface-level connection, ARTEETUDE slows things down. It looks beneath the noise and asks: What does it mean to create today? How do technology and consciousness transform one another? What happens to spirituality in an increasingly digital culture? And where can the human soul still find resonance?
Whether you are an artist, a thinker, a technologist or simply curious about the mysteries of creativity, ARTEETUDE invites you into a conversation where art, mind, body and machine meet.
