        • S2E11: Do we have a healthy money mindset? w/ Aaron Chan

Let’s talk money 💸! Finances can be such a touchy topic but there’s such beauty in being open and sharing about our relationship with money (with the right people of course).

This week, we discuss this topic with Aaron, who has actually never openly discussed about how he manages money. But we’re so grateful for him opening up to us with his thoughts on finances & his mindset around money.

He’s a foodie at heart and you’ll most likely find him crawling through different fine dining restaurants across Queensland and possibly Australia. So we got him to speak to how he makes his choices when it comes to buying within your means but also being able to treat yourself.

Especially growing up in an Asian household, we were taught to be frugal, save every dollar, only spend on things that are in the sales area or discounted. Which is not a bad thing at all (because who doesn’t love a good saving?). However on the flipside, having a better relationship with money is also allowing yourself to spend on recreation moments and not feel guilty.

We do understand that sharing and talking about finances is a personal choice and everyone’s financial situation is different so there is no one size fit all cookie cutter method.

Let us know in our comments on Instagram or DM us your thoughts. Do you believe discussions about money or finances with your friends is okay?

Almost every day we are either critiqued, provided with feedback or are dealing with day to day conversations that may lead to us taking things personally. Whether this is at work or with friends, sometimes you can’t help but feel personally attacked.

                    • S2E8: Lessons in life that has changed our mindset w/ Alex Tam

Another way of looking back at your achievements is to reflect on what you’ve learnt from all the lessons in life. Sometimes your younger self may make some not so great decisions but that’s the beauty of each individual’s journey.

Today we have another engineer friend, Alex Tam who shares his not so typical journey before he landed back in engineering. While he walks us through his journey he also shares all the lessons and experiences he had that changed his mindset and built him to who he is today.

As deep as this conversation can be, he definitely made a really light hearted conversation. Not only is it such a great journey but Alex is such a funny guy. If we ever had to play silent library we’d be losing by the second.

Stay tuned till the end as we also have some fun would you rather questions at the end. We want you to chime in too. Let us know in the comments what you would pick!

                                • S2E5: Bullies, teenage fights & finding old friends without social media w/ Alastair Robertson

This episode is a juicy one, talking fights, being bullied in school and reconnecting with friends without social media. Sam and his good friend Alastair Robertson recently reconnected after 10-15 years of losing touch which lead to a trip down memory lane.

High school wasn’t particularly a pleasant experience for both Sam and Al as they were mostly picked on and bullied for being the minority, an Asian.

Although they both went to the same school, both their experiences and thought process varied quite differently. Not to mention that Al was bullied in both Australia and in the Philippines for being a multi-ethnic kid.

Being bullied is never a place that anyone wants to be in, so we wanted to dig deep into the emotions and thoughts they were going through during the times. The life lessons they’ve learnt and how they have changed from those days. We say adversity makes you stronger and we definitely feel both Sam and Al have grown into such stronger people, inside and out.

Tune in today to hear their stories.

Disclaimer: Episode content does contain discussions around violence as part of sharing personal experiences and we do not condone violence. If you are experiencing bullying in any forms. Please make sure you speak out and tell someone.

We asked this poll on Instagram to see how many people often feel imposter syndrome and 75% of the audience said they get this feeling. Which is crazy to think how many people are doubting their own skill and even in themselves.

Whether this is something you’ve developed over time or it’s from our upbringing where we’ve always been taught to stay humble, we wanted to let you know that you are not alone.

If you are someone who also battles with imposter syndrome and constantly has self doubts, then you definitely want to listen in on Em from Maple & Ochre providing her great tips to help others ease their mind in her own way!

We also run through the different types of imposter syndrome which we feel is SO beneficial. It’s great to find out your type so you know what you need to do to make you feel your best. But also remember not to dig yourself too far into this hole and start self doubting yourself.
