No matter how hard you try and sit down with your partner and explain to them exactly how you feel about something that’s been:

- Frustrating you
- Holding you back
- Weighing heavy on your mind
- Stressing you out

It either feels like they’re not listening at all OR it ends up blowing up into an argument creating a mountain out of a mole hill…

This creates a massive void in your communication and leaves you feeling like no one will listen to you especially because you’re unable to hold space for the one person you love and respect the most.

Here are 2 ways to create an environment where you can communicate effectively with your partner:

1. Tell them, “I have a lot on my mind right now and I would love to sit down with you and get it all off my chest, so please let me know when you have about half hour where you can give me your undivided attention”
2. Ask them, “I understand that this may be hard to hear, just know that I need to tell you these things because I love and respect you. May I please let you know what I have been experiencing recently?”

This may feel weird and strange initially but creating a safe space for you to express yourself truthfully to your partner will completely change the way you communicate!
