Getting Better Sleep (0:00:00)
Everyone knows getting good sleep is vital to staying healthy, but are we actually that good at it? Roughly 1 in 3 adults don’t get the recommended amount of sleep each night, and overtime the negative side effects can be drastic in how we feel and move. However getting a good night’s sleep is about so much more than simply getting your 8 hours in each night. Today we get to speak with Dr. William Healy, an assistant professor at the medical college of Georgia in divisions of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine. We will be talking about how we can change our perspective on sleep, talk about different sleeping disorders, and learn how we can all get the best night’s sleep every night.
Accepting Election Results with Grace (0:19:02)
According to the American Psychological Association, 68% of U.S. adults say that the 2020 election is a significant source of stress for them, an increase of 16% from the 2016 election. In this time of stress and uncertainty it’s important that we take a moment to look out for our mental health. Here to help us learn healthy strategies to manage the stress and accept this year’s election results is clinical psychologist and wellness expert Dr. Carla Marie Manly.
Why Isn’t Age Part of Diversity Initiatives? (0:34:33)
America’s offices and boardrooms are more diverse than ever. Diversity and inclusion initiatives are becoming an established part of corporate culture in order to create workforces representing people from all demographics. However, upon second glance it seems that corporate America is missing one very specific demographic—it’s older generations. And when I say older I don’t mean your 75 year-old grandpa who should be enjoying a hard-earned retirement. I mean those who are 50 and up—young enough to work (and to still want to work) but old enough to look at the work through the lens of someone who has a few decades of experience. Here to talk with us today about what diversity and inclusion initiatives are missing is author of “Aging in America” and founder of the Miami-and New York City-based consultancy AmeriCulture, Dr. Larry Samuel.

Saying No to Your Kids (1:07:27)
“No” is typically a hard word to say. However, we often are prone to making special exceptions when it comes to our kids. I can’t count how many times I’ve said “no” to my own children. And while the word “no” can be helpful in some situations, studies have shown that there are other words that work better. Here to discuss these substitutes, how we can set limits and guidelines without using the word "no", and to understand when we SHOULD be using “no” is Dr. Jen Trachtenberg.
Helping Others with Their Self-Esteem (1:23:14)
Trials can either make or break our self-esteem. While some people find confidence in getting through the tough times, others end up more weathered and beaten down than they were before. Unfortunately, we all know someone who we think is absolutely amazing yet who struggles with self-esteem... and maybe that person is us. So, what can we do to have more confidence in ourselves despite what happens in our life? Here to help and speak from her own experience is author Sharon St. John.
