The Narcissist in Your Life Podcast

Bowing to the False Gods of the Spiritual Narcissist

Listen Later

For a long time you believed that they were truly holy, on a spiritual pathway of higher consciousness. They meditate and pray, they give alms, they appeared to be very concerned about the welfare of others, especially within their spiritual circles.

Bottom line--spiritual narcissists are supreme hypocrites. The word hypocrite originates with the Greek which means an actor or stage player. Greek actors wore distinctive masks to indicate what character they were playing. The word hypocrite moved from medieval French and then into English and appeared in 13th century religious writings which referred to a person who appeared to be highly moral, even holy in order to deceive or fool others to increase their power and influence.

Those partnered with or married to spiritual narcissists have a very difficult time:

1. The spiritual narcissist isolates them

2. When you discover that you are married to a fraudulent person, no one in the spiritual group believes you. They have been deceived by the spiritual narcissist.

3. Masks of the spiritual narcissist are very convincing and believable.

4. Step out of this delusional alignment and you become the bad person.

Behind closed doors the masks of spirituality and goodness, dramatically slip and you have:

An extreme sense of self entitlement

delusional belief that they are omniscient, even divine.

A psychologically cruel, demanding, raging individual with their partners, spouses and children.

Obsession with the acquisition of huge financial assets and properties.

Demonstrate a cold disdain for their spiritual inferiors.

Compartmentalize their personas - spiritual and above reproach in public - psychologically cruel, demanding, raging individual in private with spouses, partners, children.

Hypocrisy - Judging behaviors of others while giving absolution to themselves.

What you can do:

Recognize the true nature of the spiritual narcissist. Know that this is a fixed personality and cannot change.

You take the decision to separate from the spiritual narcissistic partner so that you can continue to grow, evolve and create with deep inner peace and the true reality of inner peace and solitude that you deserve.

Practice self care. You decide on your own spiritual life in the way that you define it.
