Jessica was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 32. She was focused on her career, living on her own, and totally unprepared for what was ahead. Like so many of us faced with rapid fire decisions, we don't necessarily have time to research and learn about what options are available. Today we take a deep dive into the topic of fertility and breast cancer. Jessica and Laura share experiences of freezing their eggs, or not, and what you can expect with fertility preservation.

⟡ “There is scientific evidence that increasingly supports the view that alterations in diet have strong effects on health throughout our life. The diets that are high in fruits, veggies, legumes, fiber, and certain spices have been shown to suppress that chronic inflammation and prevent the development of chronic diseases.”
⟡ “The average omnivore in the US gets more than 1.5 times the optimal amount of protein, most of it from animal sources. So when you think about cutting out meat and you're worried about your protein, it's definitely not a problem. If you're eating meat, you're probably getting a lot more protein than you really need. And that excess protein does not make us stronger or leaner. The excess protein is stored as fat or it's turned into waste. Animal protein is a major cause of weight gain, heart disease, diabetes, inflammation, and cancer.”

♡ QUOTES WE LOVE
⟡ ”How often have we heard that, that somebody experiences something and then says, wait a minute, I don't want anybody else to experience this. And I think that's really exemplifies what Leslie is doing. She had an experience, she figured out why she had that experience, and now she's trying to make sure that other people don't have that same experience.“
⟡ “You’ve got to be the boss, you have to be the boss of your own breast cancer screening. You have to ask whether you have dense breasts or not, if you don't know already, you have to learn the options around you. So we have to be strong. We have to know what we want. And we have to keep going, asking until we get what we want. Don't give up.”

♡ QUOTES WE LOVE
⟡”Are you going to call me a subject or a patient? Do I look like a subject? No, I don't look like a subject. I look like a patient. Don't call me a subject. But then that's another thing, a racial, cultural difference, you know, or experimental drug.
⟡ ‘’The way information is communicated to patients and something I really feel passionate about just, I bringing that to light for a few reasons. If you're in that situation, and you're considering a trial, and you have no idea what they're talking about, just realize you're not alone, as most patients don't have any idea.”
