How to self advocate is a topic that comes up often among those diagnosed with breast cancer. We are always telling each other that we have to advocate for ourselves, but really, what does that mean? How can we do it, what are the tools we need, and why are we so concerned about hurting our oncologists' feelings?
This episode is part III of the Livestream podcast we hosted with Liz Mover. Mother, Wife, ICU Nurse and so much more! Parts one and two are below. Part three includes questions about loss and navigating a hysterectomy as well as the important topic of self advocacy. We hear from Liz and LiveStream Audience members about their personal experiences with finding the right medical team; what I'm calling, your "medical fit".
Welcome to the Conversation!

What should you expect when going to the hospital during COVID-19? This is a question that comes up in often, especially amongst those of us diagnosed with breast cancer. Despite treatments being postponed or delayed, there are still a handful of breast cancer survivors and thrivers that go into the hospital for various reasons. For Example, chemotherapy that cannot be delayed; surgery, or a lupron shot. For some, it's because that is where they work!
In today's episode, we speak with ICU nurse and breast cancer warrior, Liz M. She takes us on the inside of what it is like working at a major medical hospital during COVID and how work was the safest place to be. Towards the end of the episode, I share my personal experience of what it was like to be tested for COVID 24 hours prior to my oncology appointment.

I think especially during COVID, as we're trying to really focus on our health and keeping our immune systems up. If your body is fighting a way to break down these chemicals, your body isn't fighting viruses. Our bodies can do what they're supposed to do. And that's fight cancer, fight viruses, fight bacteria, whatever it may be.
