Salk starts the show with his wishes to be a part of a big, festive, 80's-movie style office holiday party before the breaking news that Mike Leach has passed away at the age of 61. We revisit yesterday's Pete Carroll Show to hear Pete explain what he thinks is happening to the run defense, if he has the right players for his scheme, and his own Mike Leach memory.

Pete Carroll joins Brock and Salk to discuss what went wrong yesterday, what changes they can make to shore up the run defense, how he evaluates Geno Smith's performance, the importance of getting the run game going and Tyler Lockett's incredible ability to make toe tapping TD's look easy.

Salk asks Brock to imagine a hypothetical Mariners offseason that included a trade for (and signing) of Luis Castillo, signing Julio to longterm extension, signing Teoscar Hernandez to 6 year, 100M deal & Kolten Wong to 4 year, 60M deal. He goes on to compare free agent signings to a dopamine hit with how they fire up a fanbase. Seahawks Takeaways include the referee mess, 1-dimensional run game, Geno's missed throws, poor tackling and much, much more.

The Seahawks defense kind of reminds Salk of that kids song, “there’s a hole in the bucket, dear Liza" because each time they fix something, it costs them somewhere else. They simply don’t have enough impact up front and maybe they miss some of that steadiness Bobby provided. Salk is very curious to see how Geno responds to this game w/ all of his bad decisions. Brock's 'Blue 88' answers: how he would grade Geno’s day, what’s wrong with the run game and who is this Brock Purdy kid?

An ugly, no good, very bad loss by the Seahawks to Sam Darnold & a Carolina Panthers team who rushed for 200+ yards dropping the Seahawks 30-24 at home and slightly dropping the Seahawks' playoff chances. Pete Carroll spoke after the game and admitted the defensive scheme wasn't good enough. Meanwhile 3rd string QB Brock Purdy & the 49ers blow out the Bucs and will head to Seattle for TNF having not given up more than 17 points in 6 straight weeks.

We re-enact angry PAC-12 Championship game tweets directed at Brock in Mean Tweets. Then, Salk takes your calls and gets into a heated debate about why the M's haven't been more active in free agency. Plus, another edition of Ranked.

One person who certainly isn't happy with the narrative regarding how the Mariners are choosing to spend (or not spend) their money this offseason is Joe Fann and he joins Brock & Salk for his weekly appearance to explain his thoughts. Gee Scott is fired up about the Deion Sanders move in Colorado and he & Brock agree that the NCAA football $ situation needs some goal posts. Salk plays some of KJ Wright's comments for Gee from Wednesdays show and Gee points everything back to Coach Carroll's leadership.

Brock & Salk argue over the amount of money that Mariners fans say the team should be spending and Salk makes the point that the team has spent their money the right way and that fans should trust it. Maura came up with 5 questions that Brock & Salk answer regarding how they 'feel' about the Seahawks v Panthers matchups. In Brock's 'Blue 88' he answers - What will running game look like vs Carolina, what member of the front 7 can change what is happening, and if Penix is 8th in Heisman, where will he start 2023?

Salk starts the show by saying most people probably never knew who Brandon Nimmo was before he signed his 8 year, $162m contract with the Mets and doesn't understand the Mariners fans who are screaming about the M's not doing the the same thing. When asked about his career as a backup, Geno Smith made a comment that really impressed Salk because he didn't take the opportunity to be petty. We revisit yesterday's Jerry Dipoto Show to hear more about how/why/what makes the Mariners a "mid-market" team.

UW quarterback Michael Penix Jr. discusses his decision to stay at UW for the 2023 season instead of entering the NFL draft. Then, we react to Jerry Dipoto's comments that it's a misconception that their payroll isn't going up and that they are a mid market team. Plus, Brock and Maura take over Ranked.
