Youth

Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind; it is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees; it is a matter of the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life.

Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20. Nobody grows old merely by a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals.

Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, fear, self-distrust bows the heart and turns the spring back to dust.

Whether 60 or 16, there is in every human being's heart the lure of wonder, the unfailing childlike appetite of what's next and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and my heart there is a wireless station: so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and power from men and from the Infinite, so long are you young.

When the aerials are down, and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old, even at 20, but as long as your aerials are up, to catch waves of optimism, there is hope you may die young at 80.

思　念

思念是一种心绪。
思念是一种情感。
思念也承载着光阴。
过了古稀之年，每每思念的东西也多了起来。
打开回忆的闸门，记忆的长河涌流出许许多多的思念之波。有同学情、战友情、同事情、朋友情，甚至夫妻情、儿女情还有兄弟姐妹情，但最沉重、最持久的是对父母的思念之情。
记忆的长河流淌着无尽的父母情。幼儿时、少年时、青春时、成家后、甚至花甲年后，无不留下父母的殷殷之情。
我少年投笔从戎，军旅的紧张和有序、艰辛而温暖的生活，倒也不太想念父母。青年成家养儿育女与父母共享天伦之乐，也没太把父母放在心上，而强烈的事业心就更没有给父母多少空间。倒是我挑起了厂长的重任后，父母给了我更多地关切。
我应该算是幸运的，年近花甲父母相继离世，比起弟弟妹妹们我陪父母的时间还是要长些。
　　父母离世时并没有感觉有太多的难舍之情，自然规律不可抗拒在主导心灵。可随着时光的远逝，对父母的思念却愈来愈重了起来。算来父亲离开已有一十七载，母亲走了也近十年的光景，我也早已过了古稀之年。思念之情却每每愈重，有增无减的强烈，时而还会有子欲养而亲不在的切肤之痛。
　　著名主持人朱军在《想念父母》的歌里唱到：“翻开记忆的照片，我想念母亲，再也感受不到你温暖的嘴唇。梦中难得一见，我想念父亲，多想再一次看看你慈祥的眼神。”这种心境非常真切。
　　还有歌曲《想念妈妈》中唱到：“多想你再摸摸我的头，多想你再牵牵我的手。多希望你是到天国去旅游，可天堂的路来去不自由。”更是充满了回忆的痛。还有“想念父母托风寄天国”，“一串串泪滴挂满了钩月”，思念之痛表达的淋漓尽致。对父母的思念是漫长之痛，一种甜蜜加苦涩的心境。
　　思念是人性使然。
　　思念是亲情使然。
　　思念是岁月使然。
