(5:45) This inspires Anna who will be posting more cooking videos on hers. Even live youtube episodes could be coming up! They list the benefits of youtube, one of which is that it can be great for tutorials. (10:00) This leads to a conversation about "for you page" algorithms on Instagram. They discuss Vinnie's Instagram post in which he lists three foods you shouldn't eat. (16:10) Vinnie has gotten tons of negative comments. People just don't want to believe oatmeal is bad. Oatmeal will cause a glycogen load and will keep your blood sugar elevated for hours. You can test this if you use a CGM (continuous glucose monitor). Oatmeal just has had "a big PR agent" over the years. BUILDING BLOCKS OF FAT Questions for Vinnie (22:30): One question asks what is the "three hours per day" recovering actor's routine. Vinnie explains what he means by the three-hour routine. Food is the most important part of losing weight. (26:00) They discuss why you can't outrun a bad diet and the myths of carb loading and calorie in, calorie out. (27:00) WW has been one of the biggest culprits of the myth of CICO. (31:00) People have been white-knuckling it for years because of bad diet advice. Long hours of exercise, if you're not fueling your body enough, will leach protein from your muscles and bones. (34:10) Anna has a couple of stories about misunderstandings about low carb vs heavy carb. (35:00) Vinnie explains why eggs are better than oatmeal. (38:40) Every cell in your body needs protein to develop—it is the building block of cells. The only cells that carbohydrates "build" are fat cells—Vinnie explains how they are the building blocks of fat. How do you know if you're "fat adapted"? Vinnie gives examples. (44:15) You can also use a ketone monitor. Vinnie recommends the Precision Xtra. .5 to 1.0 on a ketone strip is a good range indicator. The longer you're fat-adapted, the better your body gets at regulating. Being in ketosis, however, doesn't necessarily mean weight loss. (49:45) At some point calories do matter—and you will have to adjust your eating. They chat about stuffing oneself and where it can reveal the emotional things behind eating habits. (52:00) LAGNIAPPE They chat about Gina Grad's foray into eating more beef, and how she loves using Anna's spices. (56:00) They share some ideas for using the dill spices—yum! Anna has a great idea for pork medallions on her Substack here. Vinnie shares a recipe of his own using olive oil (wink, wink).
