Building your law practice takes time. This is something we all know (rationally). And yet… Many lawyers give up before they can see the ultimate results of their efforts. Which is a shame because, often, they give up right before they’re likely to see real results.
Tune in for a conversation with former client and lawyer extraordinaire, Cassie Dallas, about how to stay focused, trust your instincts, and keep going before results become visible.

Lawyers are great at advocating for clients, yet most are terrible at self-advocacy. We need to do better for ourselves. I rarely use the word “should”, but this is one of the times when I make an exception. Self-advocacy is necessary for building a successful and (more importantly) enjoyable legal career.
Tune into today’s episode to learn why lawyers tend to be bad at self-advocacy, the necessary mindset shift to begin building this skill, and a simple framework for lawyer self-advocacy that works.

Law firm operations might sound like a “boring” topic. But what if I told you that having the right structure in place can save you hours each week? What if I told you that this is key to creating a more balanced life? Those two results are definitely not boring. That's exactly what we get into today on Life & Law. Tune into my conversation with Shireen Hilal to learn why moving away from a "person-centric" system to a "process-centric" structure within your law firm (or practice group) will (a) improve how your law firm operates and (b) give you more hours back each week.
Inside today’s episode, you’ll learn:
- How law firm leaders and partners become the bottleneck, making it impossible to step away or achieve balance.
- How systems improve law firm operations, increase employee engagement and improve client service.
- How to implement flexible systems, tailored to client needs, business risk, and unique legal issues.

“I hate law firm politics. I don’t like playing games.” Said a client.
This is a common sentiment (I hear often from clients).
But what if what you're calling ‘politics’ is simply what happens when a group of humans with different experiences, priorities, personalities, values, and agendas work together? And what if, by ignoring all the political stuff, you’re actually hurting yourself (not merely staying above the fray)?
Join me to learn how to shift your mindset around law firm politics so you can navigate your law firm's politics authentically and effectively (without any gamesmanship).

If you think legal billing is just an administrative or collections issue, you're missing something important. How often (and even more importantly, how) you bill your clients impacts more than whether you get paid. It impacts how much you collect, client trust, and whether or not a client will continue sending work your way. Listen to today's episode to learn why that is and how to bill in a way that builds trust with clients (hint: there's more to it than just sending a pretty, well narrated bill).

And what if you know you don't really want to grow any further (yet feel the push to do so, regardless)? Listen for a reality check around what you truly want and giving yourself permission NOT to grow.

A top question I get from lawyers is a legal networking one: How do you convert relationships into actual clients? Today's episode gives you the answer. Listen in for a simple (and highly effective) framework for converting relationships into actual clients. Inside today's episode you'll learn how to:
- Cultivate a service-based mindset for selling.

I talk a lot about values alignment (aligning your law practice to your values). But what, precisely, does that look like in practice? Here's the thing: Values that cost you nothing probably aren't values — they're just words you aren't really standing behind. Yet the cost is worth it. Because NOT aligning to your values costs something, too.
That's why I was immediately drawn to Ariella Cohen Coleman. She's a lawyer who built a values-aligned law firm and a nonprofit to support the Jewish community. She speaks openly about antisemitism. Even if it makes others uncomfortable. Even though it could cost her something. She is the real thing.
This conversation is about so much:
- What it actually takes to build a values-aligned practice.
This conversation is powerful. It's important. Be sure to listen.

Ever wonder how lawyers get clients? It's not about pitching them more (or harder). It's actually about alignment, timing, & understanding your clients (deeply). Listen to learn how to align to them, understand them, and use timing to your benefit.
