The Penn State wrestling show from Blue-White Illustrated is back following a short late June hiatus as the Nittany Lions continue to prep for the 2025-2026 college season while also having lots of success on the freestyle circuit with more International tournaments to come.

Host Thomas Frank Carr and reporter Greg Pickel kick off the show with a look at the latest headlines surrounding the program, including a report that four-time NCAA champ Aaron Brooks is facing a possible suspension after failing a drug test. His father, John, told The Herald Mall that Aaron Brooks took an over-the-counter supplement that contained a banned substance while recovering from an illness. As of the time of this article's posting and the show's recording, no decision about potential punishment from the USADA has been made.

We'll also take your questions during the BWI Mailbag to end the show!

Join the BWI Live Show today at 10 a.m. on YouTube. If you can't catch us live, be sure to watch the replay 24/7 on the channel embedded in this article or wherever you get your podcasts.

Penn State news and notes

It's not just Penn State football making moves this fall. After a successful frozen four-run, the Men's Ice Hockey team secured an offseason prize unlike any other in program history. Top recruit Gavin McKenna chose the Nittany Lions as his school of choice. We'll discuss the program's outlook and Penn State's approach to NIL in the current landscape.

It's also EA Sports College football week! The game drops on July 10th, but deluxe edition subscribers gained access to the game on Monday.

Summer conversation series: Drew Allar

Reporter Nate Bauer sat down with the important members of the 2025 Penn State football team and staff this summer, including starting quarterback Drew Allar. Bauer shares excerpts and parts of his conversation with the staff on today's show.

We'll discuss Allar's transformation this offseaons and what's behind the starting quarterback's decision to get into the best shape of his career ahead of his senior year.

Fitz's recruiting update

Football and recruiting reporter Sean Fitz joins the show to discuss the latest Penn State recruiting news. Penn State secured two more commitments over the holiday weekend, effectively wrapping up the team's recruiting for this cycle. He'll discuss what he thinks of Gonzaga defensive end Tyson Harley and DePaul Catholic offensive lineman Marlen Bright. Fitz also turned the page to 2027 this week with an early preview of the names to know at several offensive positions. Be sure to check out his article on that. We'll discuss some of the important names on the show.

Penn State season preview month continues

Today, we'll ask more questions of our staff to get their big-picture thoughts on the 2025 season. Is it a good thing that Penn State plays three easy non-conference games and then has a bye before Oregon? We'll answer that question in the BWI Mailbag to end the show. We'll also discuss the team's showdown with Ohio State in early November. Is it better to see a team with so much turnover early or later on the schedule?

We'll discuss those topics, and more! If you want to be part of the show, join us and ask your questions or give your takes in the live chat. We'll be interacting with you all show long and taking questions in the BWI Mailbag!

Penn State Football wraps up the majority of its recruiting for 2026 this weekend with the last major string of commitment announcments from top prospects. Today on the BWI Live Recruiting Show, we'll preview the biggest names that will decide their college fate during the holiday weekend, plus recap June. How badly did Penn State get beaten for its top targets compared to other years? Reporter Ryan Snyder will do his best to illustrate how much NIL has eroded the top of the Penn State recruiting pile compared to previous years.

Join BWI Live today at 10 a.m. on YouTube or catch the replay anytime on the YouTube channel,  embedded in this article, or anywhere you get your podcasts. Be ready for the next round of commitments by subscribing to the Blue White Illustrated YouTube Channel right now and enabling notifications. That way, you'll be the first to know when a commitment video drops.

The Good news: Penn State's top recruit at Rivals Five-Star Challenge

Penn State offensive lineman Kevin Brown once again shone on the recruiting stage. Last week, Brown was at the Rivals Five-Star Challenge and earned accolades for his performance. Snyder will recap Brown's accomplishments among his peers and discuss what that means for his outlook and future in Happy Valley.

We'll also recap the team's three-man recruiting weekend to end June with Jackson Ford, Jack Fuchs, and kicker Adam McCann-Gibbs on today's show. What has Snyder learned about Ford? He spoke to the defensive end's head coach to learn more about the latest Nittany Lion.

The final wave of commitments coming up this weekend

Penn State still has several top targets on the board who will make their college destinations known this weekend. This will likely be the last big recruiting weekend of the calendar now that the process has moved earlier into May and June. We'll preview the decisions coming from players like Tyson Harley, Marlen Bright, and cornerback Dorian Barney.

The Bad: Penn State June Recap stings

We've chronicled how many prospects Penn State missed on this recruiting cycle over the last two and a half weeks. From Grayson McKeogh to Luke Wafle, most of the team's top targets left after official visits went to different schools.

While it's undoubtedly a loss, how much of a loss is still a fair debate. Today, we'll try to better understand the new gap between what Penn State previously achieved before NIL and now. The team didn't routinely land elite prospects at the most valuable positions, but there's also a clear erosion of their recruiting. Snyder will attempt to pick through the results to give fans a better understanding.

The Penn State Nittany Lions are in the final summer preparations for the 2025 season. While the coaching staff can take time off this month, following a hectic recruiting calendar, we're using the downtime to preview the upcoming season. Join the BWI Live show as we preview the season, starting with the team's most challenging and meaningful games this fall. We'll start with the team's White Out matchup with the 2024 Big Ten Champion Oregon Ducks. Did Oregon lose too much talent this offseason to repeat as champions? Or did the rising Titan in college football pour enough resources into the transfer portal and recruiting to restock for another run? We'll also cover the latest Penn State news, plus open up the mailbag!

Join the show live at 10 a.m. on YouTube so you can be part of the live chat. We'll be taking questions from the audience to answer your burning season preview questions on the show. On3 makes major changes and additions

College football national reporter Brett McMurphy has joined the On3 family! McMurphy is well known for his bowl projections each year. To kick off his start with us, McMurphy put out his 2025-26 College Football Playoff projections. Where does he think Penn State will end up in the championship run? Join the show to find out.

We'll also discuss Greg Pickel's June recap, including information we learned about the coming year.

Penn State season Preview: Oregon

Today, we're diving headfirst into previewing the upcoming season, starting with the Oregon Ducks. Penn State hosts Dan Lanning's team on Sept. 27  for the team's annual White Out game in prime time. The Ducks will get Penn State's best shot in its best environment on the biggest stage. Yet, with so much turnover this offseason, what will the Ducks be bringing to Happy Valley? We've begun investigating the team's new DNA after spring football and will give fans an early preview of what they should expect from the team.

Today, we'll cover Oregon's transfer portal and freshman class additions, plus recap how the team likes to play football on both sides of the ball. We'll break down the basics of the teams' schemes and styles on offense and defense.

BWI Mailbag

Finally, we'll end the show with the BWI Mailbag. We've preselected questions from the Lions Den Message board to feature on the show, but we're answering your questions in the live chat as well. The Penn State Football team begins its 2025 season in earnest this month when the team convenes at the end of July for the start of training camp. Now that it's July, we're starting our season preview on the BWI Live Show. Today, we'll discuss reporter Nate Bauer's interviews with several important figures on the Penn State staff and roster. We'll hear what they have to say about the team's goals this year and how they achieve them. We'll also preview the schedule to kick off our month of preparation for the upcoming season.

Join BWI Live at 10 a.m. on YouTube to be part of the conversation. Ask our staff any questions you have during the live chat, and we'll answer them during the show! If you can't catch us live, watch the replay on the channel embedded in this article or wherever you get your podcasts.

New new era of college football is here

Not only is July the start of training camp for many college and NFL teams, but it's also the start of a new era in college football. With the NCAA's House Settlement rules going into effect today, teams can officially start paying players directly from internal revenue.

Yet, does this day and this landmark change anything for Penn State or college football at large? We'll discuss that idea with Bauer on today's show.

We'll also preview Big Ten Media Days, which happen this month.

Penn State sits down with Blue White Illustrated

Bauer recently did one-on-one interviews with both of Penn State's coordinators - Andy Kotelnicki and Jim Knowles - plus quarterback Drew Allar. You can read Bauer's work at Blue White Illustrated, but we'll discuss those conversations on today's show. We'll be focusing on specific aspects of these conversations to discuss in detail, which will hopefully help us gain a better understanding of the team's mindset for this fall. It's the last ride for the Penn State Football Recruiting Class of 2022, which includes team stars like Drew Allar, Nick Singleton, Kaytron Allen, Dani Dennis-Sutton, and Zane Durant. What did they come back for, and what are their goals?

Of course, we'll discuss Allar and his goals for this upcoming season and how that relates to the passing game.

Season preview month begins

Finally, we'll end the show by starting our season preview of 2025. What are we most curious about learning as we begin our own preparations for the season? What's the biggest wildcard on Penn State's schedule?

We'll discuss those topics, what the toughest stretch of games looks like, and anything else that comes to mind! Didn't see a topic you want us to cover? Join the show and bring it up in the comments section!

The Penn State football recruiting department has been taking body blows for the last week. Many of the team's top targets have chosen other destinations since Grayson McKeogh kicked off the trend by committing to Notre Dame last Wednesday. Yet the team has a chance to fight back and close out the week with a series of wins with other top prospects ready to decide. We'll cover it all on today's BWI Live Recruiting Show, plus recap the final weekend of recruiting visits. Recruiting reporters Sean Fitz and Ryan Snyder sit down for an hour to discuss the team's situation heading into July.

Join the BWI Live Show today at 10 a.m. on YouTube to be part of the conversation. We'll be talking with fans in the live chat throughout the show. Penn State lands another high-potential tight end, more decisions coming

Penn State secured a recruiting victory on Wednesday afternoon when four-star tight end Pierce Petersohn committed to the program. If you want a recap of his journey to the Nittany Lions, check out our latest video. However, we'll discuss Petersohn further to start today's show.

Petersohn kicked off a string of recruiting decisions this week that will culminate in one of Penn State's top targets making his choice Friday evening. We'll recap the announced dates for the team's top targets in the coming days and weeks.

Penn State tackle situation: Want vs Need

Earlier this week, Snyder wrote about the wants and needs left in the Class of 2026. Who is essential to add, and which players are luxury additions now that the team has 21 committed players? You can check out the full articl here, but one position we've detailed for several weeks is at tackle. We'll review how Penn State has recruited that position this year and what to make of the team's prospects at the position.

White out and Lasch Bash Recap

Finally, we'll review the team's final recruiting weekend in June. Penn State hosted its Lasch Bash and White Out camp on Sunday of this past week. Who showed up and who showed out? We'll recap the prospects and commits who were in attendance and what we learned about them.

Penn State decision days

Minnesota native and Penn State tight end target Pierce Petersohn announced last night that he'll be revealing his decision for a college destination today. He kicks off the next round of important decisions from the team's top remaining targets, which include Jackson Ford and Damari Simeon this week. We'll run down the names and times that have announced their decision dates so far.

If you haven't yet, subscribe to the Blue White Illustrated YouTube Channel and enable notifications so that when the commitments break, you'll be the first to hear if Penn State has landed another prospect.

From there, we'll pivot to discussing the team's current commits. Four-star tackle Kevin Brown was at the Rivals Five Star Challenge this week and did very well. We'll discuss his work this week. Brown is the team's highest-ranked player in the Class of 2026, but he's not the only good football player. After a week of missing on high-rated prospects, we'll try to give Penn State fans a bit of hope. We're listing the most underrated prospects in the class, and where we think they could end up by the time, all is said and done.

Finally, reporter Greg Pickel will discuss the latest with Penn State wrestling prospect Bo Bassett, who made news by decommitting from Iowa last week.

Buy or Sell

Finally, we'll round out June with another edition of Buy or Sell. We'll present a statement about the Penn State football team and either Buy or Sell that statement as fact. This week, we're discussing the team's chances of having a surprise starter and the team's long-term outlook on offense.

Normally, Tuesdays on the BWI Live show are reserved primarily for discussions about the current Penn State football team, while the Thursday show focuses on recruiting. However, the Nittany Lions lost four top recruiting targets between Wednesday and Friday of last week. This recruiting news sparked a frenzy of panic among Penn State fans to the point that even reporter Nate Bauer wrote about it on Friday.

So, today, we'll discuss the bigger implications of Penn State's loss of Khary Adams, Joey O'Brien, Greyson McKeogh, and Luke Wafle to its top rivals. We'll discuss the emotional impact, the logical next steps, and what the big picture means for the team's ability to compete at the highest levels of the sport, given the influence of NIL on recruiting.

Join the show today at 10 a.m. on YouTube to discuss this, plus the latest roster update from the team and your questions! We'll be opening the live chat for discussion from fans throughout the show.

Gang Green sets in for Penn State recruiting

Three of the four players mentioned earlier all chose Notre Dame over Penn State. Meanwhile, Wafle chose USC over Ohio State in a bidding war that reportedly eclipsed 2 million dollars in NIL money. We'll address each individual recruiting situation and then consider them as part of a larger picture. Can Penn State's current model of retention withstand the new economy of recruiting? Will the program be cut off from top talent each cycle? Bauer and recruiting reporter Sean Fitz will dive deep into the topic to give Penn State fans a much-needed perspective on the topic.

Penn State roster update and long-term weight changes

In team-specific news, Penn State released its latest roster update, with Jabree Coleman joining the program this week. With it came updated weights for the program's athletes. We've tracked the progress of each player since January, and today, we'll reveal the biggest weight gainers and losers this offseason.

What context should fans take from this? We'll discuss players who are transforming their bodies and which players may be falling behind for one reason or another.

Nickel corner battle hinges on fall camp

We also talked to Penn State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles this month. What did he say about his defense, and what he expects from the team this year? Bauer spoke to Knowles in an exclusive one-on-one interview recently, and he'll preview that conversation on today's show.

In a separate conversation, Knowles discussed his nickel position in depth with BWI. We'll discuss the big takeaways from that conversation and what they mean for the team's defense this fall.

Finally, despite the earlier recruiting focus on the show, there's more recruiting news to discuss this week. We'll wrap up the show with Fitz's recruiting update, discussing the news from this past weekend and the decisions looming on the horizon for the Penn State Class of 2026.

Today on the BWI Live Recruiting Show, we'll discuss the top prospects that have made or will make their college decisions in the coming days. We'll also recap the prospect camp from Wednesday and preview the weekend of camps starting on Friday.

Penn State suffers a recruiting loss this week. More to come?

The bad news for the top of Penn State's 2026 prospects started Wednesday when four-star tackle Greyson McKeogh chose Notre Dame over Penn State and Texas. Shortly after, industry experts put in picks for top defensive back targets Khary Adams and Joey O'Brien to join him in South Bend. After that, reports from On3 surfaced that USC and Ohio State were in a bidding war for top defensive end Luke Wafle, who was about to command a seven-figure NIL package.

Where does that leave Penn State? Snyder will do his best to give fans the intel on why things are trending away from the Nittany Lions with in-state and regional targets. We'll also discuss who is left on the board and what the program can do to make up ground.

Penn State finishing June with three camps in five days

Penn State hosted a smaller mid-week camp on Wednesday that BWI attended. Several top commits and prospects were also in attendance. We'll discuss what we saw from defensive line commit Isaac Chukwurah, and 2027 target Abraham Sessay. Defensive back commits Julian Peterson and Matt Sieg also attended camp, which was our first time to see them work up close. We'll discuss how they performed.

Previewing Visits and Camps to close June

Finally, we'll preview the end of the 2025 June calendar. A recruiting dead period starts next week, lasting until the start of the 2025 season. It's the final chance to get prospects on campus for official visits and to have top targets visit the program. We'll discuss the upcoming players making their way to campus for a final round of official visits, and then those players will be invited to the Lasch Bash and White Out Camp on Sunday.
