  • The Value of Storytelling with Giovanna Sarquis
Listeners we're here this week with some tea and Giovanna Sarquis!

Writer / Director, Giovanna Sarquis was born and raised in Mexico City. Her cultural background has played a major role in the way she approaches storytelling and filmmaking. Ever since she was a little girl she remembers writing stories and poems; however, while growing up filmmaking was not an encouraged career. Filmmaking gave her happiness though and she believed that she had no other option but to follow her passion and become a storyteller. She pursued her dream and graduated from the American Film Institute in Los Angeles with an MFA in Screenwriting in 2017.

Culture continues to play a large role in Giovanna’s filmmaking career. Giovanna likes to call her genre magical realism. In this, she explores the human condition and the adversity that can be seen in the world. She hopes that through her films, people can feel empathy or connect with the struggles faced by the main character. In her films, she likes to blend the rawness of humanity with fantasy or magic. Her hope is that through her films she can give other the emotional outlet that she felt when she watched some of her favorite movies, such as Blue Jasmine, growing up.

Since beginning her career, Giovanna has been involved in numerous film and new media projects, both on her own and in collaboration with others. She has written and directed short films and she’s received two awards and five nominations, including “Best Short Film” and “Best Director”.

Giovanna was the co-creator of her latest project, “Before I Got Famous,” a web series of which she directed all ten episodes and is currently streaming on Revry, and other platforms.

Her recent scriptwriting projects include “Ascension” a sci-fi/thriller feature film, “Lipstick” a television pilot and coming-of-age drama entitled “Starry Night.” She is currently writing a full-length script called “Cupcakes,” a short comedy she created in 2016 that is now being developed as a feature film.

So many topics were covered during this talk and also Giovanna asks me what my remedy is.

  • On Creating Your Own Story with Rudy Guisbert
Hello listeners! This week we're back and we have a conversation with Rudy Guisbert.

After 14 years of being a Systems Administrator, Rudy decided that he needed a break from the routine and quit his job to travel to Latin America.

This journey allowed him to meet beautiful people, explore amazing sites and venture into the most extraordinary coffee farms. Rudy found something in common that unites most Latino countries, this is called coffee. Rudy developed a strong bond with a number of farmers and producers across several Latin American countries such as Bolivia, Peru and Colombia. The more he connected with these farmers, the more he felt responsible for sharing their stories and product with the world.

Now Rudy is an exclusive coffee merchant, he brings coffee directly from small coffee farms in Latin America, and works only in small batches of top-quality beans. The product comes in ready to sell, all the roasting, packaging, and branding is done in Latin America. Rudy is now proud of his company Cocotu because he’s able to offer chemical-free, exclusive organic coffee beans that are produced through sustainable means.

Listeners, Rudy tells us how he went from working in Corporate America to creating the business of his dreams by traveling to South America.

I hope you get inspired with this one and share it if you think someone you know needs this message
