After a long, eventful day together including breakfast, a round of golf, the entire crew getting to Ryan's shop for the first time and an extremely fun and well attended trade night, we sat down for a Friday night bonus pod. 

For the record, Ryan beat* Tyler in golf. Jay fumbled a $300ish dollar Michael Jordan "A Cut Above" card. Lou loves Ohio and is scanning Zillow for houses. Only one last big event before we all fly home... Ohio State vs Rutgers. The battle of New Jersey vs Ohio. Good vs evil. Pray for Rutgers... they're 41 point dogs :)

Things are heating up in the sports world as October has arrived. Baseball playoffs. Football in full swing. Basketball and hockey coming back soon. The World Cup on the horizon.

Mac Jones joined Trey Lance as 2021 rookie QB's who are unfortunately set to miss a lot of time with an injury. A kid did what kids do with stickers and stuck the 1/1 Heung-Min Son 2022 World Cup sticker to a book. The Jets stink again. Trevor Lawrence just beat Justin Herbert BADLY in his building. Ryan takes all the credit for Trevor's success. Pokemon is set to launch in China and F1 is coming back this week.

What an absolutely WILD week in sports for the Card Talk crew...

The New York Football Jets won a game. Penn State won. Georgia won. Ohio State won. The Patriots won. Kirk Cousins stunk on Monday Night Football.

BUTTTT... all of our fandom and takes were not wins. Ryan Tannehill looked BAD. Tua looked GREAT. He might be battling Jalen Hurts right now for MVP consideration. Joe Burrow and the Bengals may or may not stink. The emotions are all over the place.

Also, after a devastating injury to Trey Lance, what can we learn from that situation in the card market? Disney released a promo set for their new TCG that is set to hit shelves in fall of 2023. NFL Week 1 got off to a flying start with some surprise early MVP candidates and show topic favorites–notably Kirk Cousins and Jalen Hurts–absolutely balling out! Ryan mans up and takes his lumps from the boys on both.

In this month's market report, Aaron (@SlabStoxAaon) recaps his trip to the Dutch Grand Prix and his experience meeting a few of the drivers in the garage. College football is back. The NFL is back. US Open Tennis (Serena's last dance) is back. $12.6 million dollars for a single sports card breaks the record for any piece of sports memorabilia ever sold. Mbappe signs with Panini.

Football is back and the week 1 overreactions are (predictably) in full force!

Malik Willis runs for a touchdown against backups... collectors run to eBay to smash "buy it now" on his cards and Ryan Tannehill's days are numbered. Kellen Mond impresses against the Raiders, his cards spike and it's only a matter of time before Kirk Cousins is sent packing. Gotta love the preseason!

Unless, you're a Jets fan.

Lou and Tyler had heart attacks this weekend as it appeared that Zach Wilson tore his ACL and was out for the season. Fortunately for them, he avoided a major injury and seems likely to be back sooner than later. Fernando Tatis Jr - on the other hand - won't be back any time soon after being popped for PED violation and getting an 80 game suspension, costing himself a huge hit to his legacy and his collectors some serious cash.

NetPro is back just in time for the US Open, and Tyler is fired up about it. The guys wonder who YOU would buy right now for $1000 or less to hold for the next 18 years. We have some fun questions and another fantastic POTW!
