Barefootand dirty, the girl just sat and watched the people go by. She never tried tospeak. She never said a word. Many people passed, but never did one personstop.

一个脏兮兮的赤脚小女孩坐着看人们在眼前走过。她未曾开口说话，一言不发。许多人在她旁边经过，却没有一个人停下来。

Itjust so happens. The next day I decided to go back to the park, curious if thelittle girl would still be there. Right in the very spot as she was yesterday,she sat perched[坐在高处休息] uphigh, with the saddest look in her eyes.

一切自然而然地发生。很好奇于小女孩是否还在，第二天我决定再去那个公园。正是在昨天的那个地方，她高高地坐着，带着最最忧伤的眼神。

TodayI was to make my own move[采取行动] and walk over tothe little girl. As we all know, a park full of strange people is not a placefor young children to play alone.

今天，我决定采取主动走向小女孩。众所周知，到处都是陌生人的公园不是小孩子单独玩耍的地方。

AsI began walking towards her, I could see the back of the little girl’s dressindicated[暗示] adeformity[畸形]. Ifigured that was the reason the people just passed by and made no effort tohelp. As I got closer, the little girl slightly lowered her eyes to avoid myintent[热切的]stare. I could see the shape of her back more clearly. It was grotesquely[奇异地]shaped in a humped[有肉峰的]- over form. I smiled to let her know itwas okay, I was there to help, to talk.

当我走向她时，我看到小女孩裙子的后面――它暗示着她的身体发育畸形。我想这就是人们只从她身边经过而不给予任何帮助的原因吧。我逐渐靠近，小女孩轻轻地垂下眼睛，避开我热切的注视。我能更清楚地看到她背部的形状――它极不协调，形如隆起的驼峰。我对她微笑，让她放心，我只是来给予帮助，和她聊聊天。

Isat down beside her and opened with a simple “hello.” The little girl actedshocked and stammered a “hi” after a long stare into my eyes.

我坐在她旁边，用一句简单的”你好”作开场白。小女孩很吃惊，久久地注视着我的眼睛，然后结结巴巴地说了一句”你好”。

Ismiled and she shyly smiled back. We talked until darkness fell and the parkwas completely empty. Everyone was gone and we at once were alone. I asked thegirl why she was so sad. The little girl looked at me and with a sad face said,“Because I’m different.”

我笑了，她也害羞地报以一笑。我们聊啊聊一直到天黑，公园里空无一人为止。全部人都走了，只剩下我们俩留在那儿。我问女孩她为什么那么忧伤。她望了望我，带着伤心的表情说：”因为我跟别人不一样。”

Iimmediately said “that you are!” and smiled. The little girl acted even sadder,she said, “I know.” “Little girl,” I said, “you remind me of an angel, sweetand innocent.” She looked at me and smiled, slowly she stood to her feet, andsaid, “Really?” 

我立即回答，”你确实与众不同！”并微微一笑。小女孩显得更加伤心，说：”我知道。”“小女孩，”我说，”你让我想到天使，天真可人。”她望着我笑了，慢慢地站起身，说：”真的吗？”

“Yes,dear, you’re likea little guardian[守卫] angel sent to watch over all thosepeople walking by.” She nodded her head “yes” andsmiled, and with that she spread her wings and said, “I am. I’m yourguardian angel,”  with a twinkle in her eye.

”当然，亲爱的，你就像一位被派下人间看护这些路人的守护天使。”她赞同地点点头，笑了，继而伸展她的双翅，说：”我的确是，我是你的守护天使。”她的双眼闪烁着光芒。

Iwas speechless, sure I was seeing things. She said, “For once you thought ofsomeone other than yourself, my job here is done.”

我无法言语，我真的看见了奇迹。她说：”你终于能为别人着想，而不是只想着自己了。我在人间的任务完成了。”

ImmediatelyI stood to my feet and said, “Wait, so why did no one stop to help an angel?”She looked at me and smiled, “You’re the only one who could see me, and youbelieve it in your heart.”... And she was gone.

我马上站起来，说：”等等，那为什么没有人停下来帮助一个天使呢？”她看看我，笑着说：”你是唯一能看见我的人，而且你真的相信你看到的东西。”……她消失了。

Andwith that my life was changed dramatically. So, when you think you’re all youhave, remember, your angel is always watching over you. Mine is!

自那以后，我的人生起了很大变化。因此，每当你觉得孤单无助的时候，记住，你的天使一直在注视着你。正如我的天使一样！
