In July of 2014, Florida State University professor Dan Markel dropped his two young sons off to preschool and made a quick stop at the gym before heading to his home in Tallahassee, Florida. Within minutes of arriving home, Dan Markel was shot execution style in his garage. In the aftermath, a lengthy investigation would follow that would include financial and phone records, surveillance cameras, wiretaps and a FBI sting operation, and what this investigation would uncover would shock everyone. Those who knew the Clancy family of Duxbury, Massachusetts would describe them as happy, loving, and completely normal. Lindsay Clancy was a labor and delivery nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital. Her husband Patrick worked as a consultant for a technology company, and by 2023, the couple had been married for six years and they had welcomed three beautiful children into their family: 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 7-month-old Callan. Neighbors recalled that Patrick was a very loving father. They would always see him in the backyard playing with his kids. Lindsay and Patrick never fought. They said "I love you" to each other ten times a day, and above all, they both worked hard to provide and care for their family. On December 5th, 2023, 16-year-old Lizbeth Medina of Edna, Texas didn't show up to a Christmas parade she was supposed to attend with her cheer squad. Her mother rushed home to find her daughter stabbed to death in their apartment, and police have arrested 23-year-old Rafael Govea Romero for her murder. While the investigation is still open, the family states they don't know Romero, and aren't yet sure of any connection to Lizbeth.
