Danny Wallace's Important Broadcast

The super, soaraway Radio X Important Broadcast Podcast returns, as you knew it would, for it's 356th official outing. It begins with a horrific thing The Great Leader saw on his journey in, moves seamlessly into an extremely official ceremony, reveals Steve's terrible small talk performance and eventually concludes with a big question... "How long can you leave a glass of water out?"

Only very few mortals on Earth have ever lain hands on The Great Leader. To do so without express permission would be an offence, punishable by a hefty rap on the knuckles. This week, someone was given the chance to touch him for a prolonged period and he was quite uncomfortable. Meanwhile, Steve becomes confused about the difference between an 'invention' and an 'idea'.

TRIGGER WARNING: Today's podcast dedication contains a mention of suicide.

The Great Leader loves you: Not in the conventional sense, but in the way that a Supreme All Seeing Leader loves his people, or his cats. This week, he made a kind gesture to his darling Mother, which backfired and Steve went for a very long run.

Steve has a bright idea this week, but it's all in the name of winding up other members of the IBS. At the other end of the long, banquet-like broadcast table, sits The Great Leader, like a powerful beast of knowledge, his gaze fixed upon you and his words burning the air around your little tiny head. Listen to him.

Dear Important Broadcast Listener,

The Important Broadcast would like to apologise for the late delivery of this podcast. A technological failure meant that this audio gift could not be brought to your ears. But now that it's here, what's inside? Wisdom of course! Wisdom by the bucket load. Drink it in and enjoy it. It's even better the next day...

Should you ever have the honour of speaking to him, be very careful what you say to The Great Leader. He remembers every word. On the other side of the desk, Steve tried his best to get a deal on a new phone. Did it work? Plus, The British Transport Police, insurance and facts about cats and dogs.

Chopping boards are a huge theme this week. It wasn't planned. It just sort of happened. Plus, John Leschen has been in touch and he's brought the goods.

NOTE: The noise that Steve makes inadvertently during Dinner Winner is one of the best noises that's ever been heard on British radio.
