  • Can You Guess These Movies From Twitter's Cryptic Descriptions?
We dare you get them all right
Dave's World brought us a fun movie quiz on today's Dermot and Dave.
Whilst scrolling through twitter, the host came across some interesting descriptions for famous movies, so decided to test out the D&D team.
    Here's the first one:
'Grumpy emo chick ponders whether to kiss a corpse or a dog, over several years'
    Any ideas?
Ryan, who was on work experience with the show, smashed it out of the park.
The cherry on top was listener's describing Dermot and Dave in their own cryptic ways. They didn't hold back!

  • Rhys McClenaghan: The Road To Tokyo 2020
The county Down gymnast booked his place in next year's Olympic Games after creating history over the weekend
Rhys McClenaghan became Ireland's first-ever Gymnastics World Championships medal-winner on Saturday after taking bronze in the pommel horse final.
First EVER World Final for Ireland ✅ Olympic Qualification ✅ Ireland’s first EVER World medal ✅ It’s been good Stuttgart, thank you everybody for the amazing support. #PrinceOfPommel #BeUndeniable pic.twitter.com/t5EIvRNZ8W
    — Rhys Mcclenaghan (@McClenaghanRhys) October 14, 2019
The 20-year-old's breathtaking routine narrowly missed out on top spot by a mere 0.1 of a point.
    Speaking on Today FM's Dermot and Dave, Rhys describes what the moment was like;
I WAS STANDING ON THAT PODIUM THINKING 'I'VE QUALIFIED TO THE OLYMPIC GAMES, I'VE MADE HISTORY BY BRINGING HOME THIS MEDAL AND THAT'S AN INCREDIBLE FEELING
The lads chat about McClenaghan's journey from a 6-year-old in Newtownards with too much energy to competing at the highest level on the world stage.
It didn't come without obstacles and sacrifices though, but the youngster's determination shone through.
He bounced back after shoulder surgery in November and improvised when he lost his coach due to unfortunate circumstances, "I trained in my back garden for a couple of days. My dad took out this old pommel horse that he had made when I was maybe 8 or 9".
    Here he is in training:
    His eyes are now firmly set on Tokyo 2020 and with the grit this kid has, we have no doubt he's going all the way to the top;
I'm just so excited for the Olympics now. This bronze medal has only given me the hunger for that gold and it's gonna show in my training coz I'm gonna be working my ass off
His medal is lit by the way. Literally. It actually has a charging port to make it light up.

  • Bulgaria vs England: Racism In the Spotlight
The Group A match was stopped twice due to sickening racist gestures
England's 6 goal thumping of Bulgaria in Monday night's Euro 2020 qualifier was a solid win, but their real victory was remaining on the pitch for 90+ minutes.
In what was one of the most blatant displays of racist abuse you are likely to see, a small group of Bulgarian ultras (you couldn't call them fans) brazenly monkey chanted and laughed as they raised wave after wave of Nazi salutes.
OFFICIAL: A public message has been played inside the Stadion Vasil Levski warning fans that the referee will cancel England vs. Bulgaria if the "racist behaviour" continues. pic.twitter.com/sRxR7UdwSv

"As a team, we decided if we'd left the pitch then they would win."
Jordan Henderson says England considered walking off after suffering racist abuse in Bulgaria but says the players were determined to stay on and make a stand in their European qualifier: https://t.co/OsLkVAKwqp pic.twitter.com/8cdBkJNitd

The band chat to Today FM's Dermot and Dave about the inspiration behind their collection of tunes and how they had to get with the times.
we kinda stopped playing 5 or 6 years ago and realised the music industry is completely different. Everything is an algorithm
Edging your way back into the mainstream is no easy task, but these clever clogs slipped on their creative caps to venture into the world of documentary making. Well mockumentary making actually.
You can get music out very quickly and easily but for us, we wanted to do something different
They teamed up with Dublin filmmaker Jeffrey Doyle and a small production squad to create The Blizzards: Behind The Music - a satirical mockumentary, which follows the band and their eccentric manager Duncan Browne over the course of a year:
Louize Carroll then reveals what it was like trying to blend in as a new member in 2017, "they put me through my paces...I was a little bit intimidated by it". But she loves them all now. We think.
The Blizzards treated us to a live performances of something old, but still fresh as f***, Trust Me I'm A Doctor, and something new, Who Would Want To Be In A Guitar Band, and it made us realise how much we actually missed their sound.
You can check out their tour dates and all thing Blizzardy by clicking here.

  • How To Stay Positive In A Negative Working Environment
Majority of people work to live - they don't live to work. Agreed?
With this in mind, the workplace needs to be as streamlined and enjoyable as possible. But that can be easier said than done.
Regardless of what job we are in, we all feel a little weighed down at times and it takes effort to make a change.
Lorraine Murphy is a workplace expert and executive coach, who works with companies to ensure a positive working environment and increase positivity.
Speaking on Today FM's Dermot and Dave, Lorraine reveals her tips on how to achieve these goals.
It all comes down to communication, communication, communication
Planning - this can be broken down into three phases: The What, the How and the Who.
    THE WHAT
What is the focus of the business, where are we going?
Focus is so important because it is the gateway to all thinking: perception, memory, learning, reasoning, problem solving, and decision making
And if you can't think effectively, you definitely can't produce the quality of work necessary to be successful
    THE HOW
What do we need to ensure we get there
    THE WHO
What skillsets are needed to carry it out – The Who & if gaps how do we fill them?
    EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT
Higher productivity, staff retention, more motivated and happier staff
Staff communication is key for any project
The importance of employee engagement can't be overstated – employee engagement strategies have been proven to reduce staff turnover, improve productivity and efficiency
Most importantly, engaged employees are happier, both at work and in their lives
    THE STRONGER THE CULTURE
The stronger the culture is defined the better employees understand what is expected of them – stronger communications
Company culture is important to employees because workers are more likely to enjoy their time in the workplace when they fit in with the company culture
Employees tend to enjoy work when their needs and values are consistent with those in the workplace
