  • Tony Cascarino's Club Classics - Rugby World Cup Special
    "Awright Matt"
Every Friday, Dermot and Dave are joined by the one and only Tony Cascarino to close the show.
Tony has a chat, a bitta this, bitta that - and then he plays a whopper of an anthem to get your weekend started.
Today was all about the Rugby World Cup in Japan and how karaoke, sushi and sumo wrestling confuse the hell out of him!
Here's the tune he picked out:

  • Isn't It About Time All Dating Apps Banned Filtered Photos?
    What lies beneath...
In search for 'authenticity' dating website POF (Plenty of Fish) have decided to ban face-filtered photos from their platform.
The Canadian service will complete an audit of all 70 million images on their site in hope of helping people make better matches.
52% of their users have asked for more transparency saying that face-filters should be banned, whereas 30% admit to avoiding profiles that are too heavily filtered.
To get some insight into this common art of deception, Dermot and Dave chat to one of Today FM's incredibly handsome tech guys (they're all hot), Paul Bonass, who loves a good filter.
Paul tells us why he feels the need to make himself more prettyful via his favourite filter app Facetune and explains how it all works.
He even worked some magic on the two hosts:
Dating Apps are starting to ban filtered photos
Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Chatting about this now with #DermotAndDave https://t.co/c2ncXafNzf @DermotTodayFM @DaveTodayFM pic.twitter.com/GjcKKYjYKu

    It's actually scary!
So what do you think? That a little touch-up never hurt anyone, or it's only fair that people tell the truth?

  • Noni Sets Sail For Japan
With lots of new chawklit treats
See as her workplace is right in the heart of Munster rugby, Noni Considine is a huge fan of the ruggers.
The Limerick lass shocked Dermot and Dave today by phoning into the show live from the middle of the ocean as she set sail for Tokyo, to cheer Schmidt and the boys on over the coming weeks.
She may have said sayonara to Thomond Park, but that doesn't mean there'll be no chawklit-selling in Asia. Far from it.
Noni has created new snacks that the Japanese will wolf down.
They'll be delighted to see her!

  • Where Would Make The Best New Capital Of Ireland?
Should we walk like the Egyptians?
Dave's World today informed us about how Egypt are building a new capital city to get away from its current jam-packed capital Cairo.
The $58b project is being built in the dessert and President el-Sisi hopes it will be finished by the end of 2020.
This got the lads thinking - what place in Ireland would be the perfect replacement for Dublin?
And of course, our listeners had some top suggestions.
Dave also got Dermot sci-fi-excited with news of a Battlestar Galactica reboot on NBC's streaming service Peacock, told us who invented the wheelie office chair and revealed how Jim Carrey was tortured during the filming of The Grinch (2000).

  • What Is The Right Amount To Give As A Wedding Gift?
And no, your presence is NOT enough!
"How much should I/we give them?" is one of the most common questions people ask when attending a wedding. We've all been there, right?
It can even cause heated debates, especially between couples.
With so many things to take into consideration (e.g., is it home or abroad? How well do you know them?) majority of us are torn between being seen as a tight-arse or else being too generous. So is there a happy medium?
Today FM listener Carina found herself in this position with her friend's nuptials soon taking place in Italy.
Speaking on Dermot and Dave, Carina says, "I haven't been to a wedding for so long. Just wondering what the protocol is as to the value of a gift?".
The lads team up with our other listener's suggestions to discuss re-gifting and other types of loopholes but the bottom line is that cash is king - so forget that wedding list nonsense.
Texter Seán's idea is my fave. That lad is way ahead of the curve!

  • Did You Know That Colonics Promote Good Health, Well-Being & Aid In Weight Loss?
And they're a lot more enjoyable than you may think!
When you hear the word 'colonic', what's the first thing that comes to mind?
Lying sideways on a hospital-style bed, gowned up, staring at a wall whilst feeling awkward and violated? Well up until today, I think we were probably imagining the same thing, but Colonic Therapist Sarah in maynooth totally changed my perspective
With Dermot Whelan recently being invited to a colonic hydrotherapy session, and feeling a little apprehensive about it all, he wanted to get some feedback from Dermot and Dave listeners.
Thankfully, Sarah got in touch with some very comforting information and incredible facts about just how beneficial colonic irrigation is for a person's health.
The procedure, where gallons of water are gently streamed into your body through a tube inserted into your rectum by a practitioner, promotes well-being, increases vitality and aids in weight loss.
She reveals how she loves having the chats during the treatments and debunks lots of myths related to bowel cleansing.

  • Would You Call Your Baby Any Of These 100-Year-Old Names?
    Ada, Arthur, Bessie, Homer...??
Baby names are an ever-changing trend that swing between newfangled notions and adaptations from times gone by. But nowadays, most parents would prefer to call their child something a little bit different.
We learned lots of cool names when Dermot and Dave took a look at the Hottest Baby Name Trends For 2019, but Cosmopolitan have reported that the next wave is going to come from pre-1918.
D&D producer Maria Devereux talks us through some of these 100-year-old suggestions with the likes of Abe, Cornelius, Doyle, Homer, Agatha, Etta, Lulu and Mamie all making the list. You can check out the full list here.
Peaky Blinders has proven to be the inspiration for an increase in the name Arthur and Ada since 2014.

  • Say Stuff That Suits The Music
It’s Wednesday, and you know what Wednesday means - it’s time to Say Stuff That Suits The Music!
Dave plays the tracks and Dermot says whatever comes into his head.
Today's improv masterclass includes a weather report from Professor Severus Snape, a painful Taiwan treatment, an answer to the m50 congestion and a very confused helpline.

  • Dave Loses His Voice So Does The Show As Phil Mitchell & Siri
    Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.
Something very strange happened on today's Dermot and Dave. Fantastically strange.
Dave Moore woke up as normal, made his way into work and was just about to greet Marconi House security guard Tony (we love Tony) when he realised his voice was gone.
So @DaveTodayFM has no voice and it’s the greatest thing. Ever. @TodayFM pic.twitter.com/fA0Er7l1Yg
    — Dermot Whelan (@DermotTodayFM) September 17, 2019
Lesser beings may have pulled a sickie and headed home, but not our Dave, no siree. Ever the pro, he took to the hot seat and let his buddy Dermot create a way around the issue.
This was 5% compassion from Dermo and 95% we could all get a good laugh and pull the proverbial out of his co-host.
After trying a couple of other ideas, Dave realised his Phil Mitchell impersonation didn't cause any pain, so he channelled his inner London gangster, and the results were class.
Here's a little taste of what they got up to:

  • Dave's World - Bad Joke Tuesday #TodayFMStaffSpecial
We all need a hand every now and again...
    Well a voice moreso.
On Tuesdays, Dave teams up with our listeners to bring you some of the best (and worst) jokes you'll have heard in a while, but today things went a little differently.
With Dave's voice gonzo, the team drafted in some of the Today FM family to read them out.
In fairness, there are some crackers in here, but we'll let ye be the judge of that.
