  • Trouble Sleeping? This Podcast Will Have You Nodding Off In No Time
    Sweet dreams
Do you find yourself tossing and turning in the middle of the night? Counting sheep not doing the trick?
Dave's World is here to help you let out a few Zzzz's.
Dave Moore talks us through some of the sleeping techniques he has used over the years and reveals the one he calls "the most effective sleeping aid ever".
Sleep to Strange is a podcast that uses "progressive boredom via silly stories to help adults fall asleep" via pointless meanders and lulling soothing tones. And Dave swears by it.
    Check it out here.

  • Irish Football Superfan Needs Your Help To Find His Famous Hat
Ray lost it at Ireland's friendly against Bulgaria
Everything was going great for Irish supporter Ray Hyland on Tuesday night;  Ireland won 3-1 at the Aviva and the craic with the green army was flying. But things went downhill when he realised he had misplaced his prized possession.
The Athy native has been collecting various metal badges to pin on his paddy cap since 2012. He collects a new one at each location he watches Ireland play.
But his favourite piece of merchandise is now missing and he is desperate to get it back.
Dermot and Dave caught up with the Kildare man to help retrace his steps and see if listeners could help him out.
If you were about town that evening and were anywhere near Slattery's pub on Grand Canal Street Upper, the Aviva Stadium or travelled on the LUAS Red Line out to Tallaght, and know anything about his heavily-badged beret (which was in a navy boot bag with RTÉ written in white across it), you can contact Ray on his Facebook or Twitter.

  • Did You Know That A Hot Bath Burns As Many Calories As A 30 Minute Walk!?
I know which one most of us would prefer
Dave's World was at it again today, blowing our minds with his endless supply of trivia.
He taught us what "pump bump" means, revealed how many clicks of a mouse it takes to burn just 1 calorie (it's A-LOT!) and made us feel even better about taking a nice, long hot bath.
The immersion will be on full whack from now on.

  • Check Out Jarlath Regan's New Comedy Show
Notions Eleven is in the Abbey Theatre NOW
For the best part of seven years, London-based Irish comedian Jarlath Regan has flown the green, white and gold flag with his award-winning podcast 'An Irishman Abroad'. 312 episodes of sheer brilliance.
He's been busy with loads of other projects too and his latest stand-up show sounds right up our street.
Notions Eleven is part of the Dublin Fringe Festival and is all about humility - something the creative genius is never afraid to talk about.
Can’t believe #NotionsEleven opens in Dublin tomorrow @AbbeyTheatre as part of @dublinfringe. Saturday is full to the brim but what’s stopping coming on another night! #LinkInBio #DublinFringe #DublinComedy #RT pic.twitter.com/j2K2LpSa8R
    — Jarlath Regan (@Jarlath) September 6, 2019
Jarlath chats to Dermot and Dave about his latest work, tells us what life is like in a Brexit-braced London and admits that goats scare the bejaysus out of him.
Notions Eleven is showing in Dublin's Abbey Theatre until this Saturday (14th) with a show on every evening until then. You can check out times and tickets here.

  • Analysing 9/11 Conspiracy Theories 18 Years On
Will we ever know the truth?
It's hard to believe that today marks the 18th anniversary of the most horrific attacks America, and possibly the world, has ever witnessed.
Those American Airline planes crashing into the Twin Towers are the ultimate "where were you" moment for millennials and massive question marks still hang over what really happened on that fateful day.
To help rejog our memory, presenter, producer, editor and technical powerhouse behind the Those Conspiracy Guys podcast, Gordon Rochford chats to Dermot and Dave about why evidence suggests there is much more than meets the eye.
Gordon describes 9/11 as "our generations JFK" and explores things like:
The 'False Flag' attack - where people believe it to have been an inside job orchestrated by President Bush
The 'Nose Out Theory' - that planes were flown remotely with no passengers on board at all
The Collapse of  Building 7 - a phenomenon that goes completely against Isaac Newton's Second Law of Motion
Larry Silverstein - The property tycoon who owned the World Trade Centre buildings and made $4.5bn in compensation after they were demolished
Rochford also raised our eyebrows as to why former Vice President Dick Cheney could easily be linked to it all and explains why nano-thermites are the most important pieces of proof.

  • Irish University Creates 'The People's Trial' - Your Chance To Be A Scientist
NUI Galway are working on a fun experiment to help us understand the importance of evidence
OK, so hands up if you are tired of reading fake news online...
The internet is a phenomenal resource but is plagued with false information.
Whether it's products claiming to be "clinically proven" or common misconceptions like eggs are bad for your heart/cheese gives you nightmares etc., it's hard to filter out what is factual.
Well fear not fellow truth-seekers, the clever folk at NUIG have created an experiment they hope will help the public learn about randomised trials, to understand why they matter and to be better equipped to think critically about health claims.
It will also help researchers learn about how best to involve the public in the steps of a trial process, which in turn will help influence other trials to be better designed and implemented in the future.
Dermot and Dave chat to Sandra Galvin, who is one of the team members involved in the project, about how it all works.
The first phase was getting the public to suggest questions, which they have now narrowed down to 155.
Next up is to whittle these down to 1 and this question will then be examined in three parts:
    The intervention
    The comparison
    The outcome
Delighted to chat to Dermot & Dave @TodayFM this morning about @ThePeoplesTrial - Phase 2 (aka bootcamp round) is now open and we need your help! @hrbireland @NUIGalwayPress https://t.co/62ODWBbfGM

  • It Now Costs €2,000 To Display A Sandwich Board In Dublin City
    A sign of the times
If anyone asks you whether or not the boom is back, just tell them this story.
Since September 1st, businesses in Dublin's "fair" city have been slapped with a €630 annual levy if they wish to continue displaying their sandwich boards on the street.
And as if that's not outrageous enough, they must then provide architectural drawings of the boards, paths and any other potential obstacles outside their store, followed by a planning advert in the paper.
Richard Guiney, CEO of DublinTown, chats to Dermot and Dave about this bizarre application process and reveals how it would cost the best part of €2,000 per board overall.
With 57 being confiscated by the DCC (Dublin City Council) in the first week, the lads also discuss they way inspectors are removing them and explore potential ways this issue could be resolved.

  • Maria's Telly - What To Watch This Week
Lots of new stuff to keep ya going
Dermot and Dave producer Maria Devereux always brings us the best on the box but today she really has outdone herself.
First up she tells us why we need to catch up on Amazon Prime's The Boys - a fresh spin on superheroes...gone bad:

Another must-watch is Little Mix star Jesy Nelson's powerful documentary Odd One Out, which airs Thursday @9pm on BBC One:

And if you were a fan of early noughties TV show Lost and The Hunger Games series of movies, then The I-Land (out on Netflix this Thursday) just might be up your street:

We also have Gogglebox Ireland (Wednesday, Virgin Media One @9pm), The Rotunda (Thursday, RTÉ Two @9:30pm) and Season 3 of Mr Mercedes (on RTÉ, September 16th, provisionally) to look forward to.
