We are talking about our Dear Alice Live recap in this episode. We did a live event here in Draper, Utah and 50% of the people that came were from out of state, and then a lot of our attendees bought E-tickets and had so many questions, which we didn’t have time to answer nor did we even expect there would be questions at the end. We wanted to do an episode dedicated to all of those E-ticket questions and figured probably a lot of you would like to know those answers, so we’re gonna answer those questions here. 

“[Spot tables] are so easy to pick up and they can be so sculptural and so fun. We use spot tables a lot just next to a chair like a quick little pull up, often they can migrate. My kids pull them around all over the place because it’s easier for them to pll up and eat their Lunchable on, or whatever it is. They can just bring it over to this chair and put this drink on it while I’m reading this book.” 37:00

Creating a design Northstar is something we do for every client, so we’re gonna take you through how you do that in this week’s episode. We got a question from one of our listeners who is renovating a historic home built in 1790 in Hudson Valley, New York. She is in the middle of a major powder bath and kitchen remodel moving walls, placing windows, the whole deal. She asked how to avoid decision fatigue in these huge projects as she doesn’t want to make mistakes or regret choices. She has found that working with Pinterest and Pinterest mood boards has been helping, but she still would like to know how not to get burnout when making countless decisions over the course of a few months. 

“There are so many different description words and I think when you start to pull your lifestyle I’d be like ‘What do these things have in common? It’s really textural, or it’s very dimensional.’ I think you’ll start to finish your sentence with visuals.” 26:48

Suzanne saw this great Instagram post from Lewis Howes that said “Advice from 40 year old me to 20 year old me: 5 things I wish I knew when I was 20.” We think this is a really good conversation to just talk with someone you’re close to or a teenager in your orbit that maybe doesn’t hear this from their parents, but are able to hear from someone they’re close to or look up to. This is also just a really great question to go and ask your peers, or the people around you and we hope you can enjoy our takes on this episode today.

Today on Dear Alice we talk about trend crushes, which is the stuff that we are crushing on right now. Jess talks about the saved button on Instagram and how she has started to prefer this over Pinterest when thinking about her own interests, whereas if she’s working with a client, she will prefer to use Pinterest. We discuss other trend crushes such as the color red, casual styles, monochrome, and kitchens. 

“It’s fun to go to your Pinterest and see ‘What am I consistently pinning right now that’s a theme?’ It’s fun because you can see these batches of ‘I was into that, and that, and then my algorithm changed.’ or these like, courtyards, specifically with these geometric gates that allow light to come in through peek-a-boos, and so it creates really interesting light shadow plays throughout the day and I have so many of them, and I just love it. It’s totally giving me this global vibe.” 40:40
