Dad,
Theday you died I kissed your face four times
After you died Iheld you close to me
I knew it would bethe last time I held you for the rest of my life
You were so sick,in so much pain
That is no life
I know you wereafraid to die
I hope you havefound comfort
Do you rememberhow I held your hand and lay my head on your shoulder
Even at thatmoment I couldn't imagine life without you
People talk aboutbroken hearts in songs or movies
Until that momentI had never known a true broken heart
Over and over Ithought "How can I live without you?"
I watched youlive, I watch you die
Every day I lookup at the sky
I know you'rewaiting for me
I miss you

I sat with my momin the last days of her life. I told her everything would be ok. She wentthrough the stages of death very slowly. I miss her.
The death ofsomeone close to us leave us shocked with grief. We cannot understand how oneminute this person was here and the next they are gone. The truth is that thosewe love are never truly gone. The body may have run its course, but the soullives forever. Every culture has its own traditions about death andreincarnation. The anxiety commonly felt about death in our culture is a resultof a scientific schema which says that "if I don't see it, it's notthere".
