Tash has spent over 20 years shaping future change-makers in the creative industry, previously as Programme Leader of the BA and MA Graphic Design course at Salford University then as Director of Masters Europe at Hyper Island working with international students and businesses such as BBC, EY, Unilever & Adidas. A project with the UN developed into a larger brief with two of the students pitching to the UN & at SxSW. Tash was made an Honorary Fellow when she left and sits on the Global Academic Board Her most recent step is into SNOOK, a company whose purpose is “A world where people and planet thrive in balance. Where potential is realised and everyone is empowered to help themselves, and help one another.” This is part of Tashs role as Head of Learning Design at SNOOK, to spread the understanding of the impact of Design within Industry. Tash also has spoken all over the globe at events such as Octoberfest Munich, TedX Manchester, Creative Mornings Gothenburg & for HEC in San Francisco. Parallel to disrupting design education, she has acted as an album creative for the band Elbow, carried out Skateboard design collaborations with Linder Sterling and has her own branded Meitu phone released in China. Her popular daily typographic project, 'Mundaneaday' is now it its seventh year, and its demand has expanded her portfolio to include the commission of large scale hand-lettered murals in studios around UK. Another academic side venture is Design Education, she has teamed up with the mighty Jenny Theolin to create a community, inviting all formal and informal teachers within the design industry with the intention to co-create a safe space to swap and share knowledge, experiences, research, ideas and insights, with the aim to improve the conditions for learning design at school, university and at work. A designer, writer and speaker based in Belfast, Chris is a teacher, but he’s a teacher who’s still on his own learning journey. As a design strategist he’s worked with companies, large and small, driving innovation by drawing on his 30 years of experience working with clients including: Adobe, Electronic Arts (EA) and the BBC. Chris mentors startup founders who are building purpose-driven businesses. This work is underpinned by his own startup, The School of Design, a community for design-focused entrepreneurs who are designing and building the businesses of tomorrow. The author of numerous books, Chris is a passionate speaker. He has spoken at events, large and small, all over the world, including Smashing Conference, beyond tellerr and and DIBI. He’s delivered keynotes, opened and closed conferences, and run workshops on a wide variety of topics. He’s known for his entertaining style, which is educational, but equally importantly enjoyable.

Bill Mazza is professor of Critical/Creative thinking for thousands of students and instructors at the European Institute of Design in Florence and Rome, Italy. I have also conducted creative thinking workshops at Harding University/Florence Campus, F.U.A./Florence University of the Arts, Richmond University/Florence Campus, and SACI (College of Arts and Design) and Harvard University. I have extensive experience in unconventional creative marketing, promotional advertising, art direction, design, lifestyle shoots, corporate and event planning for international companies such as Salvatore Ferragamo, Marchesi de Frescobaldi Wines, and Schonhuber Franchi to name a few.

I have developed a Creative Thinking Academy called the THINK ACADEMY that is actived in 4 countries. The THINK ACADEMY host 8 of my teaching methodologies based on my Theory called iMAZZiNATiON. That being said I have an original approach towards aesthetics, intuitive skill to unite images and ideas-independently of the will and thus begin an unconscious metaphoric process.

I’m sure that you’ve heard of Creative thinking, design thinking, forward thinking, critical thinking, lateral thinking, out of the box thinking, mindful thinking are mostly taught in the higher education arena. These types of thinking approaches share a common concept of applying a structured procedure in thinking. It’s ironic to think that in school they teach you how to write, do math, about history, art, etc. They even tell you what to think about, but they don’t teach you HOW to think. The HOW part doesn’t come automatic. That’s what I teach… The How part.

I am a creative director, art director, designer, creative methodologist, theoretician and teach creative thinking. I have developed 7 teaching methods based on my theory using cognitive reframing exercises … Some of which I have implemented at the European Institute of Design in Rome Italy and conducted workshops at other universities with phenomenal success and am now part of the Cambridge Creation Lab.

Sudebi Thakurata  is a narrative designer, creative facilitator, educator, writer and futurist. She designs experiences, engagement and environment that allow people to think, have dialogue, make their thinking and interaction visible and thus enable them to design their own solutions and narratives using different modes and media. A faculty member at Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology, for over a decade, Sudebi is also a Creative Facilitator of SEAΔ, a trans-national cross-cultural leadership programme curated by Mekong Cultural Hub and British Council. A global UNLEASH talent, mentor of many global innovation programmes, Sudebi has co-founded the transdisciplinary design collective, D.epicentre  and started a unique pedagogy, art and design led trans-local initiative “The Archival City- a Site of Learning’. During the times of the pandemic she started a global initiative deeply rooted in the power of stories, orality, inquiries, narratives and experiential perspectives called the Musical Manifesto Project.
Sudebi emphasises on socially, environmentally and culturally relevant issues, inter-weaving design, imagination, complex systems thinking, pedagogy, visual and performing arts, oral history, ethnography and research to design possibilities which are inclusive and transformative. Many of these projects use orality and memory as sources of wisdom in framing complex problems and designing solutions. She has been invited as guest faculty/curator/collaborator/designer at Stamps School of Art and Design, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Thomas More University of Applied Sciences, Virginia Commonwealth University, Qatar Ahmedabad University, IDC-IIT Bombay, Nirma University, NCBS and many other global universities and institutions. She is a member of the Inclusivity Advisory Board of Just A Girl.

Jan Eckert is a Design Educator and Researcher at HDK–Valand at Gothenburg University where he currently works as Head of the Design Unit. He holds a PhD in Design Sciences obtained from IUAV University of Venice and an international Master’s Degree in Interior Architectural Design from the University of Applied Sciences in Stuttgart, the Edinburgh College of Art and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Lugano. Before, he studied Interior Architecture at the University of Applied Sciences in Stuttgart and at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.

Eckert first worked as Interior Architect in the field of Retail and Exhibition Design. As a Senior Researcher at Lucerne’s Competence Center for Typology & Planning in Architecture, he then started developing human centered methods and projects in the field of Workplace Design. Until February 2021, he was Head of the Master’s Programmes in Design, Service Design and Digital Ideation at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and Senior Strategy Consultant at Mint Architecture in Zürich, Switzerland.

He was a co–lecturer in Interior Architecture at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, a visiting lecturer in Design at IUAV University of Venice, Berne University of the Arts as well as an invited lecturer at Universidad del Este, La Plata, Universidad Blas Pascal, Córdoba, Argentina and Izmir University of Economics, Turkey.

From an academic point of view, Jan is particularly interested in the future of higher education as well as leadership strategies for cross-sectoral collaborations between designers and non-designers.

Dr Penny Hay (FRSA, FHEA) is an artist and educator. Penny is a part-time Reader in Creative Teaching and Learning and Senior Lecturer in Arts Education, School of Education and also Research Fellow, Centre for Cultural and Creative Industries.

Previously Penny was a teacher with responsibility for the arts, advisory teacher for art and lecturer in arts education at Goldsmiths College, the Institute of Education, University of London, Roehampton Institute and the University of the West of England.

Penny has worked extensively in arts education across the UK and co-ordinated the professional development programme for the National Society for Education in Art and Design (NSEAD). She was instrumental in setting up the National Artist Teacher Scheme with Arts Council England and NSEAD that offers teachers the opportunity to develop their own creative practice, culminating in the first summer school at Tate Modern.

Penny coordinated CEDES (Creative Education: Disaffection, Exclusion and Society): a two-year action research project, in collaboration with the Centre for Research in Education and Democracy at the University of the West of England. She was also a Creative Agent for Creativity Culture and Education (CCE) and co-convened the SW Hub for the Cambridge Primary Review Trust, researching the Power of the Arts in Primary Schools.

Penny is a member of the Crafts Council Learning and Development Advisory Group, HundrED Advisory Group, Cultural Learning Alliance Advisory Group, RSA Innovative Education Network, BERA Creativity in Education Special Interest Group and Chair of the Creative Practice Research Group in Bath Spa University's Centre for Cultural and Creative Industries. Penny is the Strand lead for Creative Pedagogy in Centre for Policy, Pedagogy and Practice and Associate Director of the Centre in Transnational Creativity and Education TRACE. She works internationally with University Autonoma Barcelona and University of Agder, Norway.

Penny is an artist researcher on the Global Challenges Research (AHRC) project in Dharavi Mumbai: ‘Rethinking waste and the logics of disposability’, Compound 13 Lab is an experimental learning space, built on methodological and pedagogical innovation, where issues of work, waste, education and sustainability are explored to develop a 'living curriculum' for young people.

Karel has spent his professional career dealing with design, technology, human affect, cognition, and behaviour primarily through the human interface to technology.

His current interests are in advances in design practice, design-based organisational transformation, the innovation ecosystem (design school, business school, university, entrepreneur, and enterprise), and the ways in which technology can extend, optimise, and improve work, play, relationships, education, health, and overall fulfilment.

He is director of design at IBM and responsible for IBM’s global design leadership as well as its global academic programs and serves as the head of IBM Studios in Canada. He's also Industry Professor at the DeGroote School of Business, the DeGroote Health Leadership Academy, and McMaster University. 

Karel joined IBM in 1988 after having done graduate studies, research, and teaching at the University of Toronto. He introduced User-Centred Design at IBM in 1993 and assumed a company-wide role in 1995 leading IBM's community of designers, leading the development of design methods, languages, and technologies, and leading the design of the commercialisation of the IBM Watson. In 2013, Karel help found a new IBM Design program together with General Manager of Design, Phil Gilbert, and IBM Fellow, Charlie Hill. Karel personally introduced the new design program which included Enterprise Design Thinking to IBM product development laboratories worldwide and introduced a tailored version of it to IBM consulting services and technology services organisations worldwide from 2014 through 2016. He next focused on the development and activation of Enterprise Design Thinking for client facing professionals worldwide and rolled that to IBM’s top client accounts in 2017 and 2018. He has also conducted workshops with the c-suite and senior executive teams of hundreds of industry leading companies worldwide as well as with startups, scale-ups, and public organisations. 

Karel has written over 100 conference and journal publications, a book entitled "User-Centred Design: An Integrated Approach" and contributed chapters to other edited books. He is a frequent keynote speaker and panelist at industry conferences and on university campuses.

Benjamin Van Dyke was born in the heat of southern Florida and later moved to the chill of western Michigan. His life, and his intellectual pursuit, is a series of stark contrasts and experiential anomalies. He received an MFA from the Stamps School at the University of Michigan and a BFA from Kendall College of Art & Design. He has been invited to exhibit his work across North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East. After a Fulbright Fellowship in The Netherlands and a tenured faculty position at the University at Buffalo, Van Dyke returned to Michigan to contribute to the state’s historic place in design history. He is currently Associate Professor, Associate Chair, and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Art, Art History, and Design at Michigan State University.
