Joost Roozekrans has been working as a designer, creative director, and senior design lecturer. Thirty years in the design profession, with a lot of mileage in designing brand identities, and a passion for education.

He is from the Netherlands and worked in the United Kingdom (2 years) and China (10 years). Joost worked for nine different design studios, one newspaper (The Guardian in London), four universities, and co-owned two design studios; NLXL in The Hague and SparkyTiger in Shanghai. Designing the award-winning visual identity for the Dutch national police force was his first project at Studio Dumbar in 1992.

Joost is regularly giving design lectures and workshops. At universities, conferences, and companies in the Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Lithuania, P.R. China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Australia, and the USA.

In the summer of 2020, he published a design theory book: How to Create Better Ideas - Connecting the Left and Right Brain in the Design Process. The book divides in two parts. The first part explains the design process as a total, putting ideation in the middle. The second part teaches six methods to create design ideas for young designers and professionals.

Balvir Nandra is currently working with undergraduate students of Architecture at Nottingham Trent University delivering a series of Integrated Design Studies components. His educational experience spans over more than two decades, during which he has been Course Director, Senior Lecturer and Senior Teaching Fellow for Graphic Design and Communication Design disciplines at graduate and post-graduate levels at Birmingham City University, UK. 

He has more than forty years of experience in both design practice and education in areas such as concept visualisation, marketing, public relations, typography, semantics, information design and design ethics.
 
He has also worked as a consultant on several large-scale design projects, including work for Telecom Malaysia, ARUPS and Transport for London.

He is engaged in active research and dialogue with several high profile international institutions ¬¬– this includes pedagogic development in partnership with Coventry University Online UK, and course delivery strategies for several educational establishments across Russia, China, India and South-East Asia.

He is currently examining the impact of globalisation on educational delivery.

Jonathan is an educator working across various disciplines in higher, professional and compulsory education. He teaches, and has taught, in several universities, unions, professional bodies, schools and with the medical Royal Colleges as well as workplaces.

His experience and education embraces systems, design and cognitive ergonomics, art and the social and natural sciences. He has particular interests in axiology, human factors, cognition, measurement and decision sciences, as well as blended education and advanced research methods. He is a Reader for the Queen's Anniversary Awards for Further & Higher Education and a Liveryman of the Educator's Company and the Society of Apothecaries.

His current practice focuses on the ways in which new approaches using Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), to create autonomous, regenerative systems at local levels to reduce the need for global supply chains.

Adam Paxman has worked as a freelance illustrator since 2008. He has previously worked as an Associate Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University on the Contextualising Practice theory module for first year Graphic Design and Illustration with Animation undergraduates.

Adam has taught at Hugh Baird College in Bootle since 2009. He initially taught mostly on the Art and Design and Graphic Arts programmes at Further Education level. He has been a part of the Graphic Arts programme team at Hugh Baird University Centre since 2013, when the programme was validated by the University of Central Lancashire. Since then, Adam has come to specialise in Contextual Studies across all three years of study, lecturing and leading theory-based seminars for students on most of the design-related programmes. Adam also teaches practical sessions in subjects including Graphic Arts and Games Design. 

Adam is an alumnus of Liverpool John Moores University’s Graphic Arts Bachelor of Arts programme, where he specialised in Illustration, and Glyndwr’s Illustration for Children Master of Arts programme. He has a Post-graduate Certificate in Education.

Adam’s research interests are diverse, responding to Calls for Papers from a variety of institutions, conferences and symposia. He particularly enjoys using illustration practice as a means to reflect on and analyse literary texts or topics of academic discourse.

Adam is also currently exploring publish on demand (POD) opportunities for several personal long-term written and illustrated narrative projects.

Dr. Juliana Goga-Cooke: Julia is an academic, journalist, design thinker and entrepreneur. She leads the Academy of Design Thinking, helping organisations create innovation skills and capabilities, and adopt a design led culture.
Her career started in academia, with a Ph.D in Linguistics, and moved to journalism, working for the BBC for 16 years as a broadcaster, producer, editor and senior leader. After a gap year of study in Design Thinking Innovation and Entrepreneurship at CSM and London Business School, she co-founded and managed the Future of Work Research Consortium, and founded the Academy of Design Thinking. She has worked with more than 100 companies across a wide range of industries. Julia teaches Design Thinking and Foresight & Strategy at Loughborough University London and Design Thinking Accelerator at Central Saint Martins, University of Arts. She lives in London.

A designer, academic and researcher, Dr Anastasios Maragiannis has devoted his career to exploring and understanding the fundamentals of design diversity and inclusion, within the context of the digital landscape and a multidisciplinary approach to design thinking. Anastasios is currently the Deputy Head School of Design at the University of Greenwich, London and a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts. He is the leading the d+iD – diversity + inclusivity by Design Research Lab which explores how design acts inclusively regardless of disability, gender, ethnicity, vulnerability, language, and age.

He is also the Design Critique Lead for TypeThursday London with great interest on how computational technologies impact on the existing principles and forms of design (readability and legibility). Anastasios presented in a number of international conferences and he has been showing his work in various places including the London Design Festival, and the V&A Museum, London.

Anastasios has taught at undergraduate and postgraduate levels at Kingston University, UEL, Goldsmiths, University of London, University of Arts, London, and in various UK and international institutions including Athens, Atlanta, Paris, Seattle, Ningbo-China, Istanbul and Berlin.

He has also participated and chaired various international conferences including TYPECON in USA, TYPOBERLIN in Germany, DRHA in China and ISEA in Turkey, Australia and Canada.

Audrone Drungilaite is a Creative Director at EMKO - a place where simply smart design meets its seekers and creators. She’s a former Executive Director of the Lithuanian Design Forum which is a non-governmental design promotion organization bridging designers with the industry. Audrone had been responsible for the management of Design Week Lithuania, the biggest design festival in the Baltics happening from 2006 in six cities at the same time. A graduate of Vilnius Academy of Arts with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design and a Master’s in Cultural Management and Policy, Audrone works there as a visiting lecturer. She is an enthusiastic promoter of Lithuanian design around the world, chairs few boards and sometimes curates Lithuanian design exhibitions abroad.
