This week we are putting the spotlight on our MEMBER OF THE QUARTER, Mr. Brent Tamati. Over the past 18 months, Brent has made massive improvements to his business and is now working at a GP of 20-25% while working less than 50 hours a week.

OVERVIEW: Originally from Auckland Grew up in Blenheim where he did his carpenter's apprentice moved to Australia at age 25 Formed Direct Building Solutions in 2007 They are a Residential building company in Sydney that specializes in architecturally designed projects, two storey additions, renovations, extensions, and modular homes Team consists of 3 Foremen, 2 Carpenters, 2 Apprentices, and 2 Labourers

BEFORE TPB: Was barely scraping by and would work at very low margins just to win the next job Had poor cashflow Did not know their backend costs Was constantly stressed, which was affecting his family Lacked communication between site and office No project management system in place

AFTER TPB: Now works at a margin between 20 - 25% GP Got his team pulling in the same direction with a clear focus on what goals need to be hit Have a very clear picture of how the projects are tracking, time/materials against cost Now has a clear communication system between office and site including regular team meetings Has freed up more time to spend with family including 3 holidays a year Doesn’t do any work on the weekend's Healthy cash flow coming into the business.
