The economic crisis is essentially a crisis of relationships, states Luigino Bruni. The market economy is presented as a good common life in which there is no risk of being wounded by the other. Bruni shows not only that this is an illusion, but that we should rather embrace the risk of being wounded. He points out the need for balancing the increasing tendency towards isolation with the human need for relationships, including vulnerability.
