After suffering a potentially life-ending needle stick injury in hospital, he travelled the world, worked in several remote locations before moving back to Ireland where the facial aesthetic industry hadn't yet started.

Patrick quickly pioneered some the very first injectable treatments including using both biostimulator and polyacrylamide fillers for facial lipodystrophy in HIV-patients. He was also the first doctor known to try something that we now take for granted as injectors - the use of hyaluronidase to dissolve HA fillers.
